Britney Spears Mom Lynne Backs Her Up In Conservatorship Battle With Dad

By Ryan Naumann

Britney Spears' mother Lynne says the singer's father Jamie should be removed as co-conservator of the singer's estate.

According to reports, Lynne Spears' lawyer informed the court of her opinion during a hearing in Britney's conservatorship. The singer is attempting to strip her father of his power and control over her life.

For the past 12-years, Lynne has not involved herself with the case and let her ex-husband handle it. Jamie and Lynne Spears divorced in 2002 after 30 years together.

Recently, Lynne recently hired a lawyer to become involved and kept informed of updates in the case. Her attorney told the court Britney and Jamie’s relationship is “toxic.”

She said her daughter should not be forced to obey Jamie’s unreasonable demands. Her lawyer said, “It has broken Lynne’s heart that things have come to this point.” Lynne’s rep told the court his client had no ill will towards Jamie. She said it’s time “to start fresh” and remove him as a conservator.

Her lawyer noted, “Contentiousness is not uncommon in families, but this is not a usual family.”

Britney has been pleading for Jamie to be removed completely from the case. She accuses him of making bad decisions with her finances.

Her lawyer told the court his client feared her father and would not work until he was gone. She has been on a work hiatus since early 2019. The decision was made because she would rather not work than be around her father.

Britney's lawyer told the court, “My client has informed me that she is afraid of her father. She will not perform again if her father is in charge of her career.” Britney has been on a work hiatus since early 2019 when she called off a scheduled Vegas residency. She has not released new music or worked on new projects since.

Jamie's lawyer argued her client should not be removed. He believes his work brought his daughter out of financial ruin.

He said when he was brought on to manage the estate, Britney was drowning in debt and facing numerous lawsuits. Jamie says Britney's estate is currently worth an estimated $60 million. His lawyer told the judge, “I don’t believe there is a shred of evidence to support my client’s suspension."

At the hearing, the judge decided not to remove Jamie at the moment. He noted he would consider a motion for removal at a future hearing in the case. Britney has yet to address the hearing.
