Demi Lovato is one of those music artists who has had so many ups and downs in her life that sometimes her fans wonder if she lives on a surfboard.
The 28-year-old former Disney Channel actress, fresh off a heartbreaking split from her ex-fiance Max Ehrich, underwent a change in her social media activities that borderline the esoteric.
That is to say, that if someone had said the “Still Have Me” singer would be claiming to have seen UFOs in the sky not even a month ago, they would have been brandished a lunatic who clearly didn’t know Demi half as well as they should.
Anti-Trump
Yet, that is exactly what she did on Instagram after her breakup. Though, this was evidently not world-shattering enough for her follower base as she decided that her music career would now be a reflection of her political views.
Her song “Commander In Chief” was not only 100% anti-Trump criticizing the POTUS but paved the way for her to openly support Joe Biden’s presidential campaign.
It goes without saying that this was a highly controversial move for Demi. The number of negative comments she received is quite staggering, though her latest post is really what has people arguing in the comments.
Backlash… Of Unfollowing!
Her fans have been heavily divided over her latest posts, with a number of people sharing they have stopped following her because of her political views.
Demi has not only joined the voices of many of her peers in calling the election in favor of Joe Biden (before the results have officially been finalized) but has now urged her readers to exercise caution in light of what she believes to be an inevitable surge in violence from Trump supporters.
She made it a point to state that anyone who had voted for Trump was “extremely angry” and that they would specifically target minorities as a form of “backlash” over the Presidential elections.
Accusations Against All Trump Voters
“An urgent request! I have already started to receive dozens of these. Just a reminder that 70 million + people voted for trump and many of them are extremely angry right now. After every win there is substantial backlash (in person as well as digital attacks) especially against visible minorities (trans women & femmes / Muslim women in hijabs / Black people / disabled people, etc).” – (Demi)
She included a picture in her post with someone saying hurtful things and hoping for violence to befall Biden supporters.
Slammed By Readers
Here are but a few of the comments that absolutely slam the pop star for putting a bad light on all Trump supporters in the US:
“Protect them from who? Republican voters who are mostly Conservative and Christian? Get over yourselves! You can’t say that these comments are coming from Trump supporters! You have no evidence of that, and there are no statistics that prove Republicans are violent. If anything the Democratic party has historically been the ones promoting violence!” (Commentator)
“But do you know Kamala cuts trans rights? Lmao” (Commentator)
“We aren’t angry Demi stop using your platform to manipulate people. We’re waiting patiently for all the court battles to take place and the recounting to take place. The only angry ones are you guys on the left. Y’all literally rioted for most of the year, beating, killing, burning, destroying. You should see the messages rightwings get from your group. It’s actually so funny to me that your side can dish hate but can’t take any back.” (Commentator)
“Republicans don’t go out burn and loot other peoples property. Old saying made your bed with roses or thorns now lay in it.” (Commentator)
“You mean like @ ANTIFA rallies, where they initiate ALL the violence?” (Commentator)
