The petition, launched days ago by a loyal Johnny Depp fan, is titled, "Warner Bros, Bring Johnny Depp back as Gellert Grindelwald!!!"

A description for the page explains that Depp left the upcoming production of "Fantastic Beasts" after the "unfair" verdict with the UK tabloid, The Sun.

"We want him back! Warner Bros should listen to the public or we will boycott the movie!!!" a plea to the movie studio stated.

Many fans of Depp and the "Fantastic Beasts" movies also voiced their support for the star.

Fans Threaten Boycott

If Depp doesn't return as Grindelwald, many of the franchise's fans have vowed to boycott the upcoming installment, regardless of their devotion to J.K. Rowling.

"I've seen the first 2 Fantastic Beasts and will not watch the third because Warner Brothers doesn't care that an innocent man has been falsely accused of a crime and has the evidence to prove his innocence," one fan wrote on the petition page.

"JD deserves better than this. He’s the victim and should not be treated like this," another fan wrote.

As we reported, a justice in the UK determined that The Sun had cause to label Depp as a "wife beater" after publishing an article about the turmoil surrounding the "Pirates of the Carribbean" star and Amber Heard. The ruling was a tough one for Depp, and he has vowed to fight it.

"Finally I wish to say this, The surreal judgement of the court in the UK will not change my fight to tell the truth and I confirm that I plan to appeal," Depp stated.

He added, "My resolve remains strong and I intend to prove that the allegations against me are false. My life and career will not be defined by this moment in time."
