Over the past few years, the world has advanced a lot in terms of people in the LGBTQ community being accepted into society for who they are and making the world an equal place for everyone.

This progress is especially apparent in the film industry, and the Christmas season certainly wasn't left out of it. This year, many major networks have created and released Christmas-themed films that include and represent LGBTQ couples in the holiday spirit.

This made many of their fans extremely happy as it is another significant step in getting equal recognition and representation for the LGBTQ community. Here are four new LGBTQ Christmas movies for the holiday season this year.

'The Christmas House 2: Deck Those Halls'

In 2020, Hallmark was the name on everybody's lips when they changed the game by releasing a Christmas movie centered around a gay couple who found love during the Christmas season. According to NBC, the film" The Christmas House" was one of Hallmark's biggest premieres ever and garnered more than 13 million views over the holiday period.

This was glaring proof that viewers wanted more representation in their holiday films, and this year, Hallmark did not fall short. They made a sequel to the successful film titled "The Christmas House 2: Deck Those Halls." It revolves around the characters from the first film as they gather with family and friends to compete on who can decorate their Christmas tree best.

For those fans who loved the first film, it is an opportunity to reunite with their favorite characters and watch them enjoy another holiday together. Jonathan Bennet, the star of the film, was very vocal about the first movie and this sequel, and he said, "Of all the movies I've done in 20 years in Hollywood, this movie is the most important to me because this character matters."

'Single All The Way'

"Single All The Way" is a sweet Netflix romance film about a perpetually single man who convinces his best friend to pretend to date him to keep his family from pestering him about his love life. The best friends eventually fall in love with each other despite his family's constant meddling and some hilarious and unfortunate misunderstandings.

It has garnered a lot of buzz and interest over the last few weeks, and viewers have expressed that they love the film a lot for its sweet and romantic undertone. The film has a star-studded cast, including Michael Urie, Jennifer Coolidge, and Kathy Najimy. "Single All The Way" is a great movie choice for a Christmas day spent sipping eggnog and snuggling with loved ones.

'Under The Christmas Tree'

Hallmark wasn't the only network to switch up their holiday programming in 2020. Lifetime did, too, with a fantastic film called "The Christmas Setup." This year, they have another holiday classic called "Under the Christmas Tree," and the film is about two women who clash over a Christmas tree for the governor's holiday celebration.

The film was directed by Lisa Rose Snow and featured Elise Bauman, Tattiawna Jones, Sonia Dhillon Tully, and others. Many LGBTQ people and couples are looking forward to the film because of how good "The Christmas Setup" was and the promise of romance, representation, and holiday cheer that the film offers.

Showrunner Amy Winter spoke about the new film, "I feel like we're the leader when it comes to Christmas and diversity and inclusion and selecting great stories from all different walks of life, and that commitment will continue."

'The Great British Baking Show: Holidays'

There are other film productions outside movies that are available to watch this Christmas and have the contributions and presence of people from the LGBTQ+ community. This includes shows like The Great British Baking Show: Holidays, a holiday-themed baking show.

This will be season 4 of the show, and it features contestants from previous seasons as they bake sweet holiday-themed treats for the judges and compete to win a prize. The show features fan favorites like presenter Matt Lucas, comedian Tom Allen, and judge Paul Hollywood.

'The Great British Baking Show: Holidays' is funny and a feel-good watch for anyone who loves baking or wants something entertaining to watch with friends or family. The show is available for streaming on Netflix.
