Kelly Ripa is the latest star to pay tribute to “Jeopardy!” host Alex Trebek following his passing. The legendary television personality died on Sunday, November 8 at the age of 80-year-old after losing his battle with pancreatic cancer.
Taking to her social media just moments after the news broke of Alex Trebek’s passing, Kelly Ripa honored the late star with a dedication making it clear that he will be missed. Alex Trebek revealed his stage 4 diagnosis in March 2019.
The “Jeopardy!” host last appeared alongside Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest one month before announcing he had pancreatic cancer where he seemed in good spirits. During their interview, Kelly Ripa even mentioned how he was “aging in reverse.” Showing off his witty humor that so many loved about him, Alex Trebek responded by joking, “Heavy drugs.”
She also gave him some beauty input, advising him to keep a clean shave. “I like you clean-shaven,” she told Alex Trebek before elaborating.
“I don’t think you need the facial hair. You’re not hiding anything. I think clean-shaven Alex Trebek is my personal favorite.” Addressing his passing on Sunday morning, the 50-year-old “LIVE” host shared a selfie from that appearance. Wearing a navy polka dot dress with white collar, Kelly Ripa smiled sweetly while cuddling up to her co-star and a suited Alex Trebek.
The “Jeopardy!” host looked a little caught off guard but handsome in his dark suit jacket with a red stripped tie.
“#rip Alex Trebek,” Kelly Ripa captioned the show selfie. She also added a GIF that read, “R.I.P. you will be missed.” Her co-host also paid tribute to the game show host following the news of his death. Posting a picture of Alex Trebek smiling on his “Jeopardy” set, Ryan Seacrest called him “family” and said he was instrumental in his career.
“Alex Trebek was like a family member who I watched every night. I remember going to the set to watch him tape a show before I started my TV career,” Ryan Seacrest stated.
Ending his heartbreaking tribute, Ryan Seacrest added, “He was a big influence and one of a kind. Rest in peace, Alex.” Alex Trebek was the host of “Jeopardy” for over 30 years. The show’s official Instagram account put out a statement about their own Alex Trebek’s passing after his year battle with pancreatic cancer.
“Jeopardy! is saddened to share that Alex Trebek passed away peacefully at home early this morning, surrounded by family and friends. Thank you, Alex,” the statement read.
