Russell Wilson, Ciara Hand Gifts To Students For Completing Inaugural Semester At New Academy

Russell Wilson and Ciara have been one of the most popular couples since 2015, as they've created a beautiful family over the years. The two have also been giving back in the state of Washington, where the two live.

The Seattle Seahawks star and the singer recently started their Why Not You Academy, in Des Moines, WA. The inaugural semester was just completed and now, Ciara and Russ decided to reward the students.

According to PEOPLE, Ciara and Russell handed out Dare to Roam antimicrobial backpacks. These backpacks included some very interesting items such as Starbucks gift cards, Human Nation beanies, Human Nation/House of LRC T-shirts, 3BRAND Why Not You Scarfs, and Spin Master's Aerobie Sonic Fin Footballs.

The two also had a special event, where the students decided on what the official mascot of the school would be. They ultimately decided on going with a Lion.

Over a year ago, Russell and Ciara decided to launch their Why Not You Foundation. They went on to start the school, in partnership with public school leaders Garth Reeves and Scott Canfield, along with the Why Not You Foundation.

“We’ve always held the belief that life’s successes start with a good education, but recognize that access isn’t always created equally for all," said Russell and Ciara on the Why Not You Academy website. The Why Not You Foundation was created with the concept of empowering youth to lead with a why not you attitude and that’s why it was important for our foundation to partner with Scott, Garth, and Cascade Public Schools to help open doors for kids from less fortunate backgrounds.

"This school is a longtime dream of ours and it was important for us to find a way to combine traditional classroom learning with community and mentorship-based activities, in order to prepare kids for the real world. Why Not You is based on the idea that it can start with one and our hope is that this school will be the first of many.”

Russell also continues to be one of the most popular and successful players in the NFL. He's been the quarterback of the Seattle Seahawks since 2012, where he ended up winning his first Super Bowl in the 2013 season. He's spent every year of his career in Seattle.

This season though, Russell had his first losing season in Seattle. The team currently stands at 5-9, and are on pace to missing the playoffs. This season has occurred the way it has though, due to a significant finger injury to Russell, which kept him out of action for a while.

Russell has also been involved in trade rumors for months now, and his time with the Seahawks coming to an end. He has since denied that he wants to be shipped out of Seattle, and expressed how much he loves being on that team and in Seattle.

"I didn't say that," said Russell to reporters earlier this month. "I'm focused on what we're doing here. I love Seattle. This is a place I've loved every day, every moment. ... That's a non-story."
