Joan Didion passed away from complications related to Parkinson’s Disease.

She was 87-years-old and lived in Manhattan.

However, most of her books and articles were about life in California.

Didion was born in Sacramento and loved her home state.

She was also a journalist and screenwriter for 1976’s “A Star Is Born.”

Many authors took to Twitter to express sorrow for her passing.

Maris Kreizman wrote, “I want to believe that Joan Didion lived an extra week out of spite…”

“…so that she could officially outline Eve Babitz.”

“Check on all the girls you know who refer to her as jdiddy,” Kreizman added.
