Tristan Thompson Demands Default Judgment Against Alleged Baby Mama

The NBA star explains that in December 2019, Kimberly Alexander "asserted a claim that Thompson was the father of her then nearly five-year-old son. Rather than accept that the DNA test definitively proved that Thompson was not the father of her child, Alexander turned to social media and falsely accused Thompson of sabotaging the DNA test results in order to avoid his parental responsibilities, and she falsely stated that Thompson is the father of her son and she claimed that Thompson has been “neglecting” the child since birth".

In the request for default judgment, Thompson's attorney's claim "Kimberly Alexander’s false and defamatory statements about Thompson, falsely stating that he faked or sabotaged the DNA test results, that he is the father of her child and that he has neglected the child since birth are extremely damaging to Thompson’s personal and professional reputation. Alexander further falsely accused him of manipulating and sabotaging the DNA test results, which has a significant detrimental effect on Plaintiff’s career as a professional athlete and brand endorser."

Further, "All of Plaintiff’s employment and endorsement contracts contain morals clauses which give the employer the right to terminate the contract if Thompson engages in conduct that may cast his team or the brand he is endorsing in a negative light. Thus, there is a genuine risk that the publication of such false and defamatory statements about Thompson may interfere with his existing employment and endorsement contracts as well as other future professional opportunities".

Tristan Thompson recently reconciled with one of his actual baby mama's, Khloe Kardashian, and shows his commitment to his family by sharing this statement in his supporting declaration: "I am the father of two young children. I love my children and take my responsibilities as a father extremely seriously. I am involved in my children’s lives and proud to have close relationships with my children and to provide for their needs financially and otherwise".

Thompson has a lot on the line with his family and his professional career and wants to prove to the court that his reputation has been seriously damaged due to Kimberly Alexander's actions. Thompson continues in his declaration: "In 2019, I signed a five (5) year contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers. In addition to playing professional basketball, I have endorsement deals with a number of top brands, including Beats by Dre, Compex, Moet & Chandon, Mountain Dew and Nike. Ms. Alexander’s statements falsely asserting that I am the father of her son, that I tried to sabotage the DNA test results (which conclusively established I am not the child’s father) in order to avoid my parental responsibilities, and that I have neglected her child since birth are false and deeply hurtful to me personally, as well as being enormously damaging to both my personal and professional reputation".

Tristan wants the court to know that "had the DNA test results shown that Ms. Alexander’s child was my son, I would have done the same for Ms. Alexander’s child without hesitation. For Ms. Alexander to falsely state that I am the type of man who would neglect his parental duties hurts me emotionally and is incredibly damaging to my reputation. Parents who neglect their responsibilities to their children, and in particular socalled “deadbeat dads”, are almost universally loathed and looked down upon by civilized society. No brand would want to be represented by or associated with someone with a reputation for shirking his responsibilities as a father."

He continued, "As such, by posting false and defamatory statements asserting that I am the father of her child and that I neglected the child since birth, Ms. Alexander may have interfered with prospective future branding or other professional opportunities for me. Moreover, most of my professional contracts, including my contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers and the brand endorsement deals I have, contain what are known as “morals clauses”, which give them the right to terminate my contract in the event I engage in certain behavior or conduct that may cast the team or the brand in a negative light publicly.

Therefore, by falsely accusing me of engaging in “sabotage” and neglecting my alleged parental responsibilities to her son, Ms. Alexander has also harmed my professional reputation and potentially interfered with my employment". Tristan has requested an award of general and punitive damages against Alexander.

A judge has yet to rule on Thompson'ss motion.

Earlier this year, Alexander claimed she was looking for a lawyer to represent her in the case for free. She said she was trying to avoid being hit with the default judgment that Thompson is now seeking.
