Actress Hailee Steinfeld has made a splash with audiences after starring in the Disney+ Marvel series "Hawkeye."
In the six-episode series, Steinfeld plays the young archer Kate Bishop, who learns that her favorite superhero Hawkeye isn't all he's made out to be as the two team up together.
Although fans were elated to see Jeremy Renner reprise his role as the hard-of-hearing Avenger Clint Barton, fans were even more excited to see Florence Pugh reprising her role as Natasha Romanoff's sister.
Pugh was a hit with audiences when her character debuted in Marvel's "Black Widow" alongside Scarlett Johansson earlier this year, and they were even more excited to see her character, Yelena Belova, appear in last week's episode of "Hawkeye."
Steinfeld Dishes On What It Was Like To Work With Pugh
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Steinfeld revealed that "the minute I knew that she was gonna be a part of the show, I was very excited. I am a huge fan of Florence and her work."
"At that point, it had been me and Jeremy the whole time, so I was ready for some Florence Pugh," she continued before the conversation steered towards the infamous macaroni scene, where Kate Bishop walks into her apartment to find that Yelena got hungry and decided to make herself some macaroni and cheese to pass the time - right after trying to kill her.
"That scene, in particular, was so fun," Steinfeld shared. "There's a lot of layers. It's always exciting to dig into a scene like that. When you first read it, you laugh, there are points that you love and connect to. But when you really get into it you understand that there's a deeper meaning to this very fun scene that has a lot of great banter between these two really awesome characters."
Steinfeld Admits That She Was 'Impressed' By Pugh
Pugh has made a name for herself in the entertainment industry after appearing in 2019's "Midsommar" and "Little Women."
"I just remember being so impressed by Florence," Steinfeld continued. "She had a great understanding of Yelena and where Yelena falls in this moment. She's been given a task, and she has made it very clear she will stop at nothing to achieve this task."
"There's Kate simply trying to understand where she's coming from because she's not willing to accept Yelena's thoughts on Clint," she added. "These are two people who are just trying to protect the thing that they love. In that, they sort of find this connection to each other."
Pugh is not the only actress that impressed Steinfeld on set. Steinfeld also admitted to being impressed by dog actor Jolt, who plays Lucky the Pizza Dog.
“The minute I knew Pizza Dog was as much a part of this show as he is, I was very excited,” Steinfeld explained. “It was definitely a challenge; the dog is unbelievably well-trained — do not get me wrong — but it is a dog. When it sees a squirrel, it wants to have a moment with the squirrel.”
The season finale of “Hawkeye” is available to stream today, Wednesday, December 22, on Disney+.
