T.I. Says Atlanta Restaurant Should Be Shut Down For Kicking Black Couple Out
T.I. has done an amazing job of using his platform over the last five years to address injustices in America such as racism and police brutality.
He also participated in a boycott of Houston’s in his hometown of Atlanta as they weren’t giving service to Black customers.
Now, a similar incident has occurred at the Umi Sushi restaurant in the city. An employee told a Black couple to leave simply for wearing sneakers. This is after white customers were seen wearing sneakers as well with them being allowed to stay.
T.I. Believes Umi Sushi Should Be Shut Down For Its Actions
The boycott of Houston’s in Atlanta a few years ago led to a lot of changes in how they treat customers and now, T.I. feels that this must be done to Umi Sushi.
He took to Instagram to say, “I see we are going to have to shut Umi Sushi down the way we did Houston’s!!!”
His IG caption read, “I’ve been made aware of some injustices that require our immediate attention. We comin. #YouViolateWeDemonstrate.”
Woman Kicked Out Discusses The Incident
Kaylan Colbert, the woman who was kicked out with her significant other, has spoken out about this horrible incident and explained how they were singled out.
“As we were walking out though my husband noticed a woman at the bar had on tennis shoes and that’s when everything had gone out the window at that point because there are no rules here for some people, only for others,” Colbert explained. “If you’re going to have rules they should apply to everyone and not just some people.”
Many Feel T.I. Can Use His Platform To Change How Business Is Conducted
T.I. has shown great dedication in trying to bring justice to the people who need it. In this situation at Umi Sushi, the restaurant will definitely hear from him regarding what went down that day.
Hopefully, this results in the couple being treated to a meal courtesy of the restaurant and their employees not showing any form of racial discrimination.
White customers at the restaurant wore sneakers, but they didn’t receive any grief the way the Black couple did.
T.I. Is Also Gaining Attention For His Latest ‘The L.I.B.R.A.’ Album
T.I.’s 11th studio album, “The L.I.B.R.A.,” was released on August 16 and contained 20 tracks with solid features from 21 Savage, Young Thug, Benny The Butcher, John Legend, and more.
The acronym in the album’s title stands for “Legend Is Back Running Atlanta.” It has reached No. 18 on the Billboard 200 chart as this is T.I.’s first project since his “Dime Trap” album was released in 2018.
One track on The L.I.B.R.A. that is getting a lot of hype is “We Did It Big” featuring John Legend where T.I. mentioned that his late friend urinated on Drake in 2010. This was at the premiere of “Takers,’ a film that T.I. starred in.
