In the trailer for Marvel’s new “Doctor Strange” film, appropriately titled, “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” fans get a glimpse of the latest Marvel project in the works.
The film, which debuts only in theaters on May 6, 2022, just dropped its official trailer today, and fans are excited to see what the next chapter of the Benedict Cumberbatch-led film has in store for them. Although the trailer only came out a few hours ago, the trailer had already been viewed almost 4 million times!
‘Doctor Strange 2’ Teases A Deep Dive Into Marvel’s Multiverse
At the beginning of the trailer, Wong can be heard saying, “Don’t cast that spell. It’s too dangerous.”
“We tampered with the stability of spacetime,” he continues. “The Multiverse is a concept about which we know frighteningly little.”
In the next shot, Mordo warns that “your desecration of reality will not go unpunished” as Doctor Strange himself steps out to see the city falling into ruin around him.
Elizabeth Olsen reprises her role as Wanda Maximoff, also known as the Scarlett Witch.
“Well, I knew sooner or later you’d show up,” Wanda tells Doctor Strange. “I made mistakes and people were hurt.”
“I’m not here to talk about Westview,” he tells her in a nod to the popular Disney+ series “Wandavision.”
“Then what are you here for?” she asks.
Doctor Strange then reveals that he needs her help with something related to the Multiverse.
After several action shots, Mordo warns, “The biggest threat to our universe…is you” as Doctor Strange is confronted with a darker version of himself.
Fans Can’t Hide Their Excitement For The Newest Marvel Film
Fans couldn’t hold back their praise for the two-minute trailer.
“If you guys notice, Wanda’s costume from Wandavision series & in this trailer is different. A movie version upgrade looks dope!” one fan wrote.
“More serious/thriller/horror-themed movies like this in the MCU, PLEASE,” another commented.
“This is probably the Marvel movie I’m most hyped for in Phase 4 and this teaser did not disappoint,” Another wrote. “Bring on Strange Supreme, villain Scarlet Witch, Shuma-Gorath/Gargantos, and *potentially* X-Men, Fantastic Four, and Deadpool! Bring on the Madness!”
Another commented, “I love how other characters are becoming a part of movies with lead role characters like doctor strange in spiderman’s movie and now Wanda in dr strange’s movie, Marvel has come a long way and with every movie, the chills keep getting stronger!”
“This could possibly be one of Marvel’s greatest movies,” another wrote, although it seems like it’s going to be hard to beat the success of “Spider-Man: No Way Home.”
‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ Crushes Early Box Office Expectations
As The Blast previously reported, the last installment in the Spider-Man franchise has been smashing box office records. Not only does the film have a 94% fresh rating and a 99% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, but it also shattered expectations by taking home $121.5 million on Friday’s opening day.
Not adjusting for inflation, that total marks the second-biggest opening day of all time behind “Avengers: Endgame,” which scored an impressive opening day total of $157.5 million.
The biggest all-time openings are led by “Avengers: Endgame” with $357 million and “Avengers: Infinity War” with $257.6 million. “Spider-Man: No Way Home” now rounds out the top three with $253 million.
Will “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” be able to top the records set by “Spider-Man: No Way Home?”
Fans will just have to wait until May 2022 to find out!
