Kelly Ripa knew exactly how to get her own back on Ryan Seacrest today. The 50-year-old and her 45-year-old co-host fronted media outlets last week after Ryan left Kelly in the lurch for two days straight – the “American Idol” host took one day off, then making global headlines as he underwent a COVID test on day two. The “Live!” hosts were back on air together on Monday, but with backstage footage showing Ryan ignoring Kelly, there was tension. Check out what happened, plus Kelly’s chicken purse comeback below.
Scroll for the chicken purse action. The drama kicked off backstage as “Live!” filmed Ryan and Kelly making their way onto the set. The former “All My Children” actress was talking about the “meat dinner” she’d made her family over the weekend. Stating that the Ripa/Consuelos kids always ask for meat, Kelly said:
“There was meat, it had meat it it. I don’t eat meat as you know,” then getting asked why she “tortures” herself by an understanding Ryan. The attention didn’t last long, though.
Kelly was about to continue and keep talking – in fact, she did – but Ryan had, by this point, wandered right off. “He doesn’t listen. He’s like my other husband,” the blonde said.
“Live!” fans don’t just get the famous two-some swanning around backstage and saying hi to the coffee guy, though. A follow-up video with a #KellysFashionFinder is often shared, today showing Kelly’s chic, red-print Gucci blouse and tight Herve Leger skirt. The video actually talked makeup as Kelly referenced Halloween, but fans spotted something else.
Keep scrolling for the video. Speaking into the camera, Kelly said that her makeup artist makes her look so “pretty” for the set, and yet when it’s time to do October 31 makeup, he makes her look, well, Kelly left the words blank, calling him a true “artist.”
All the time Kelly was speaking and seated backed by the NYC skyline, she was showing off a yellow, red, and black chicken purse. And fans can speak of nothing else.
“I have the chicken purse!!!” one wrote.
“Love the purse. My cat’s name is chicken lol, “another said – more after the video.
Ryan first sparked concern after reports he was suffering from a “minimal cough” during his day off. The “Keeping Up With The Kardashians” producer had been filmed without a mask during an “American Idol” video, with “Live!” then confirming his second day off was a “precaution” as he awaited results of a COVID test. Once returned, Ryan broke his silence, thanking Kelly for holding down the fort.
“Thank you for covering,” he told her, adding: “Following strict protocol, got the negative test results for COVID. Makes you feel very good.”
Kelly, meanwhile, reassured Ryan, saying: “I didn’t have any doubts.”
