Sofia Vergara caused an uproar over the weekend when a fun night out was spoiled by the controversy surrounding her social media photos. The “Modern Family” star was excited for a reunion with her co-stars for the first time since the long-running ABC comedy came to a close, but instead of just focusing on the good times it seems her life of wealth and luxury has rubbed some people the wrong way and kicked off a heated argument between her fans.
It all went down on Friday evening as the “America’s Got Talent” judge showed off her outfit of the day for her millions of fans.
“First night out in 7 months!!!” Vergara wrote while showing off her smoldering look, which including a sexy black bustier paired with a pair of rainforest-themed pants, complete with colorful parrots.
The star also showed off her Dolce & Gabbana handbag and a pair of stiletto shoes … however, it was what was in the background of the photo that really seemed to catch the attention of fans.
While the “Modern Family” actress was showing off her look for the big night, it was the woman doing dishes in the background while wearing a mask that sparked a conversation in Vergara’s IG feed.
“Did anyone else notice the masked lady in the background doing dishes?” one fan wrote.
“Showing off she has a maid. While she looks fancy. ????♀️ I wonder if she asked permission to take a pic of her while doing dishes,” another person commented.
“Love you my Latin sister but why does this photo seem wrong. Take a good look at the obvious,” a third person stated.
While others piled on Sofia Vergara for showing her maid, and others commented about the woman wearing a mask, at least one person stood up for the “Modern Family” actress to normalize both maids and mask-wearing.
“I do the same thing with my maid, I tell her to use the mask only when cooking or washing dishes because just by speaking the germs can remain in the dishes all of our family including her use to eat, same with food! And no I’m not rich, but in Latin America is usual to have a maid, is affordable and sometimes very necessary since we as Latins all members of a family go to work,” the fan defended.
The fan also pointed out that the woman is probably thankful for a job during these uncertain times, adding, “thank God Sofia kept her maids (or maids) providing her with a steady income in this economic crisis.”
Aside from the drama over her maid, Vergara appeared to have a fun night with her old co-stars.
Vergara, and most of the stars, from “Modern Family” strapped on their facemasks and met up for the first time since their long-running ABC sitcom came to an end. The photos were shared by Vergara, who famously played Gloria Pritchett for 11 seasons on the hit show. The mini-reunion was clearly emotional for everyone, including Sarah Hyland, Julie Bowen and Jesse Tyler Ferguson.
Vergara’s husband, Joe Manganiello, was also in attendance with an interesting new haircut.
