Before long everybody will have to say farewell to "Keeping Up With the Kardashians."

The show is currently in its twentieth and final season, which will conclude in early 2021.

For longtime Kardashian fans, it's bittersweet seeing their favorite show come to an end. Of course, with the Kardashian and Jenner family being celebrities, they'll continue to grace television screens elsewhere.

However, for fans, it won't be the same. No longer will they be able to watch the everyday pranks and drama that surround the family.

Instead, they'll have to rely on social media to keep up with the Kardashian clan.

In October 2007, viewers were introduced to the family with the premiere of "KUWTK."

The show was the brainchild of Kardashian matriarch Kris Jenner, who with the help of Ryan Seacrest got the series up and running.

Prior to the show's debut, the Kardashians were already in the media due to the release of Kim Kardashian's sex tape. Despite the negativity surrounding Kim, it didn't hinder the show's success.

"KUWTK" was an instant rating smash for the E! Network and helped the family achieve fame and fortune.

Aside from their reality show, they also became successful business owners with the launch of fashion lines, cosmetics, and other ventures.

End Of An Era

After 13 years on the air, "KUWTK" was still a ratings hit.

Although fans often criticized the show for being too over-the-top dramatic, they continued to tune in.

Throughout the years, there's been a lot of real-life drama that's played out onscreen, including Khloe Kardashian learning her boyfriend Tristan Thompson cheated on her.

With so much going on in the family's life, fans thought there would be enough material to keep them on the air for years to come.

However, after much discussion, the family decided it was time to say goodbye to television.

On September 8, 2020, an announcement was made confirming the show was coming to an end after 20 seasons.

Social Media Caused Cancellation?

There have been lots of reports about the reason for the show ending. Some reports indicated that certain family members didn't want to do the series anymore.

Although, it's true some members, including Kourtney Kardashian may have been ready to call it quits, there may be another reason for "KUWTK" cancellation.

In an interview with WWD Beauty Inc, Kris Jenner blames social media for the show's cancellation.

Jenner says that with social media's popularity it allows the family to connect with fans. However, it also means sharing information in the now instead of having fans wait months before the show's premiere.

Family's Social Media Activity

The entire Kardashian and Jenner family is active on social media.

The family is always on Instagram and Twitter showing photos of their home life or promoting a product.

Social media does provide them with an outlet to express themselves, however, sometimes they may spoil things they had to keep a secret.

One of the biggest stories this year is Khloe's rumored reunion with ex Tristan Thompson.

Although fans will see for certain on "KUWTK" if the couple is back together, the pair may have already spoiled it. Tristan often leaves flirty comments on Khloe's page, and a few months ago he posted a photo of them together with daughter True.

Also, Scott Disick seemed to confirm the couple's reconciliation with an Instagram comment about Tristan being a lucky man.

Whether social media is to blame or not, that's not stopping fans from tuning in for the final episodes of "KUWTK."
