Meagan Good's Husband Claims They've Been Legally Separated For 4 Months!

Meagan Good's husband, DeVon Franklin, says he has been separated from his wife for FOUR months before officially filing for divorce.

According to the legal documents, obtained by The Blast, Franklin claims the former couple's official date of separation is August 21, 2021. In the filing, DeVon cites "irreconcilable differences" for the reason the famous duo split up and confirms they were married on June 16, 2012.

Interestingly, Franklin is asking the court to "terminate" its ability to award either of them spousal support -- which normally indicates there was a prenuptial agreement. The couple didn't share any children, so child support isn't an issue in this case. In 2019, the actress shared a video of the couple in the family's entertainment office, saying she was "getting ready for babies," but the couple never had kids.

The date of separation is important for several reasons. On one hand, it can have major financial implications in a celebrity divorce, considering anything AFTER the date can't be considered "community property." In other words, each party would keep anything they made after that date. Also, Good could argue it happened on a different date in her response to this divorce filing. It is very common.

We broke the story, DeVon filed for divorce from Meagan on Monday, December 20, 2021, in the Los Angeles County Courts. The couple issued a joint statement following our story, saying they will be "forever connected."

"After much prayer and consideration, we have decided to go into our futures separately but forever connected," the couple told People.

The continued, "We celebrate almost a decade of marriage together and a love that is eternal. There's no one at fault, we believe this is the next best chapter in the evolution of our love, We are incredibly grateful for the life-changing years we've spent together as husband and wife. We are also extremely thankful to God for the testimony being created inside us both and for blessing our lives with each other."

The timeline adds up considering the ex-couple posted anniversary messages to one another six months ago, marking their ninth anniversary. "To the love of my life, my husband, purpose partner, happy anniversary!! This makes #9 and eternity you go! You are the best decision I've ever made (besides loving Jesus lol). I love you with everything inside me. In this life and in the next," she wrote.

He added, "I love you my love. Happy Anniversary #9."

Earlier this month, Devon promoted Good's new Amazon Prime Video series, 'Harlem,' which premiered on December 3. Interestingly, he wasn't at the premiere event in New York City but supported his ex-wife on Instagram saying, "so proud of my love!"

"I’m so proud of my love [Meagan Good!] She’s one of the most talented actors on the planet AND she’s funnier than you may know but I’m so glad you finally get a chance to see her do it all as Camille Parks in the new Amazon show," he wrote.
