Actress Mandy Moore wants to know if you can contract COVID-19 through a hotel air vent, after listening to the person in the next room over hack up a lung all night long.
The 'This Is Us' star described her rough night in a hotel on Instagram, describing how she was kept up by a person with a horrible cough. Unfortunately, the sound could be heard through the walls -- and it got her thinking -- or panicking!
Moore shared a picture of herself sitting up in the hotel bed, along with a caption describing the process of frantically googling the situation to see if it was possible to get sick this way. "Listening to the person in the room net to me hack up a lung. I hope they're ok but also frantically googling about getting Covid through hotel vents. So, that's my morning. Also, away from the baby for one night and no sleeping in. Boooooo," she wrote.

Well, before you click off this story and start googling it for yourself -- we did it for you -- after we had the same reaction as everyone else!
According to the CDC, there are no confirmed cases of Coronavirus traveling through an air-conditioning system and infecting someone else. "While airflows within a particular space may help spread disease among people in that space, there is no definitive evidence to date that viable virus has been transmitted through an HVAC system to result in disease transmission to people in other spaces served by the same system," they said.

To be clear, a virus CAN travel through a system like this -- but, "the concentration of viable virus detected was believed to be too low to cause disease transmission. There may be some implications for HVAC systems associated with these findings, but it is too early to conclude that with certainty."
In other words, it is highly unlikely that Moore has to worry about the guy next to her hacking all night long. But, lack of sleep can lower your immune system, and..nevermind you get the point!
A few hours later, Mandy updated her fans on social media about the problem with reading your message on Instagram after you publish that type of message. "Lesson of the day: Don't read your messages. I don't have the bandwidth or energy to explain how vaccines work to anti-vaxxers," she wrote. But, that's a whole different conversation!

Mandy Moore made headlines in the past few days describing the "fairy-tale" love she has with her husband, Taylor Goldsmith. "Mandy has truly found her soulmate, they both sing and play music for their son. It truly is her fairy-tale ending," a source told Us Weekly. “I knew, even before I met Taylor, I would love again, and I would get married again, and I would have a family. And all the things I always hoped for and wanted, I still believed were out there and possible," she confirmed.
