Kelly Ripa has been boogying around and clicking her gold high heels as “Live!” celebrates the return of Ryan Seacrest following a two-day absence, a “minimal cough,” and a COVID test. The 50-year-old talk show queen was left holding down the fort for two days straight as 45-year-old Ryan both took the day off underwent a coronavirus test – fans have been worrying about “American Idol” host Ryan, particularly since a video over the weekend showed him unmasked. Check out the return below.

“UPDATE: Great news.. test came back and he’s negative! Ryan will be back tomorrow!”
On Wednesday, “Live!” updated its Instagram with the usual backstage shenanigans as Kelly and Ryan made their way onto the set, even taking in the new coffee guy. Kelly was mumbling to herself as she stunned in a slinky, metallic, and striped red dress, with sky-high gold heels adding plenty of pizzazz. The former “All My Children” actress worked her way onto set, where a little shimmy and boogy showed her to be in high spirits.
Keep scrolling for the video. Kelly, who got unlucky this week as fans warned that her minidress was way too short for a 50-year-old, now sees the bulk of comments geared towards her co-host.
“I never seen Ryan looking this handsome keep it up Ryan love the beard and the color is perfect keep it up pleaseeeee❤️?,” one fan wrote.
“Ryan – you look wonderful!” another added.
For many, though, just seeing these two back together is A-OK. Kelly and Ryan returned to set in September following 180 days of quarantine-set video streaming. More after the video.
Ryan, who has kept quiet on Instagram about his recent test, is reported to have been suffering from a slight cough, with the COVID test stated to have been a precautionary measure.
“[He] had a minimal cough, and out of precaution wanted to make sure he had a negative test before going back to Live, which he did,” a source told People.
Meanwhile, Kelly has been outlining how set life goes as she stays six feet apart from Ryan, with the same applying to everyone, from the cast to the crew.
Speaking during one of her solo days, Kelly told her non-live audience:
“We have all of these new restrictions now, so this is one.” The mom of three added: “We have to wait until he comes back negative before he can get in here. It’s public health. We take it seriously.”
The buzz around Ryan’s absence comes amid wider headlines Kelly has made for suggesting she might be hanging up her “Live!” hat. Earlier this month, Ripa told Parade that she’s been writing a lot and that her “ultimate goal” is to “eventually get off camera” to work behind it.
