Meghan Markle can stop being the scapegoat for the royal feud.
For the past year, the Duchess of Sussex has bee the subject of bullying and negative attention from the British press.
News outlets blamed the former “Suits” actress for the feud between brothers Prince Harry and Prince William.
It’s been reported that Harry and William aren’t as close as they once were. Meghan was believed to be the reason for the tension between the sibling, however a new book claims that Harry and William’s problems started long before Markle came along.
The Meghan Factor
Prince Harry and Prince William’s feud reportedly began with Harry and Meghan’s engagement in November 2017.
Harry and Meghan began dating in June 2016 and a year later they were engaged. William was concerned that Harry was moving too fast in his relationship with Meghan. When he voiced his worries to Harry, the brothers had a huge blow up.
Aside from tension between the brothers, Meghan and Kate Middleton reportedly didn’t get along as well citing their different lifestyles as the reason.
The strain between the foursome continued to grow, and during Harry and Meghan’s last royal appearance in March, photos showed the group looking unhappy sitting close to each other.
Royal Exit Makes Things Worst
Although many were quick to shrug news of a feud off as rumors, Harry seemed to imply that he and William aren’t as close as they once were.
Harry claimed that he and William are at different paths in their lives. Harry has his own family, and William has his to take care of. While Harry says he doesn’t see his brother as much, he still loves him and supports him.
When Harry and Meghan announced their exit from the royal family earlier this year, William was upset with the move.
William felt hurt by his brother’s decision and believed the couple was doing a disservice to the monarchy.
Issues Long Before Meghan
The media has been quick to judge Markle for destroying the bond between Harry and William.
But according to author Robert Lacey, the brothers’ estrangement began long before Meghan came into the picture.
In his new book “Battle of Brothers: The Inside Story of a Family in Tumult,” Lacey goes into detail about Harry and William’s relationship.
The boys dealt with a lot of tragedy in their lives due to their parents divorce, and the death of their mother Princess Diana in 1997.
However, as the boys grew older, they slowly started to drift apart.
Lacey states that one of the reasons for the estrangement is due to Harry feeling inferior to William. All the attention was placed on William, the future king. As for Harry, he was always known as the spare and felt like he didn’t really fit in.
Repairing Their Bond
These days the brothers are busy moving forward with their lives. Prince William and his wife Kate continue to make their royal appearances, while taking care of their three children.
As for Harry and Meghan, they’ve moved to California with their son Archie. The couple is starting a new career thanks to their television deal with Netflix.
As for the estrangement between Harry and William, it seems like things are still the same for the brothers. According to a new report, Prince William refused to have lunch with Harry following the royal exit announcement.
Although things are still icy with the pair, royal fans are hoping the brothers can patch things up.
