Amanda Bynes is back on Instagram after a months-long hiatus, and although the former Nickelodeon star looks very different from her “All That” days, she seems happy after many years of turmoil. 34-year-old Bynes took to social media on Friday afternoon and dropped her first selfie in a long time to share with her near 500,000 followers. The post by Bynes also marks the first time she’s reached out to reconnect with fans after spending time in a mental health facility earlier this year.
Amanda Bynes’ first photo made it clear the former actress is very content, although hardly recognizable from when she starred in movies like, “What a Girl Wants.”
Bynes was seen wearing a yellow flannel buttoned only at the top with a black and white graphic tee underneath. She also wore a pair of denim jeans and the same thick-rimmed glasses she was seen with earlier in the year. The ex-star’s dark hair was much longer than the last time she was seen, as it hung well below her shoulders.
Bynes, who was showing a wry smirk behind her glasses, did not provide a caption for her photo, nor did she allow any comments to be made from anybody else.
Back in May, Bynes briefly reappeared on social media after she was released from a 2-month treatment for ongoing issues with her mental health. She confirmed the treatment at the time and let everyone know she was happy and focused on the future, which included finishing some more classes in design and merchandising.
“Update: Getting my Bachelor’s degree from FIDM — Taking online classes, trying to get a 4.0 GPA :] ?” Amanda had posted back in May
She added, “Looking forward to starting my online store in the future #goals.”
Bynes also explained she, “Spent the last 2 months in treatment. Worked on coping skills to help with my social anxiety that caused me to drop out of school months ago.”
After being released from treatment, Bynes also revealed she spent time in a transitional living home and attended weekly sessions of therapy.
Bynes also appears to still be with her fiance, Paul, although her family has not approved of the relationship.
Earlier in the year, Bynes announced that she was pregnant with her first child when she revealed an alleged sonogram. Bynes is still under a conservatorship with her parents due to mental health issues, and her family rushed to court to get her in a facility for treatment after the pregnancy announcement. Some believed the pregnancy was not real, and that Bynes had believed becoming a mother would end her conservatorship, which was not the case.
After she completed treatment, Bynes revealed she was still engaged to Paul, but stopped speaking about the alleged pregnancy.
