Hugh Jackman Strips Down And Spreads Legs In New Commercial
Baring It All
Earning the distinction of becoming the brand ambassador for R.M. Williams last year, the scripted commercial features “The Greatest Showman” actor sitting in the nude in a casually furnished executive office.
“First let me say that we are delighted that you love R.M. Williams boots,” an executive says. “Which makes this next part a little awkward.”
“Oh, we’re all on the same team here, man,” Jackman says as he spreads his legs for the flustered employee.
Later on, as Jackman leans in to admire the stitching on his boots, the camera pans widely to reveal a blurred out shot of Jackman’s, erm, you know.
The Awkwardness Continues
After moving through a sequence of revealing poses, Jackman ends the commercial by noticing how comfortable the chair is, grinding his butt back and forth over the fabric as the executive sinks his head in his hands.
“It’s just so comfortable,” Jackman enthuses.
“Not everything is comfortable,” the man replies as the camera cuts to a pair of the boots with the company logo, noting that they had been handcrafted since 1932.
Hugh Jackman is one of the few performers who would be able to pull off this role through his superb blend of drama and comedy.
Although best known for his role as Wolverine in the “X-Men” franchise, Jackman has also been able to show off his range in comedies like “Movie 43” and his amazing vocal chops in “The Greatest Showman,” which was covered by the Peacock Donny Osmond for the premiere of the first season of Fox’s guilty pleasure hit, “The Masked Singer.”
Jackman’s name made headlines in the news this week…for an entirely different reason.
Jackman has been married to his wife, Deborra-Lee Furness, 64, for the past 24 years.
Appearing on the Australian TV show “Anh’s Brush with Fame” earlier this week, Furness joked, “He’s been gay so many years, I was gay too.”
But she recognized the harm that could come from these comments, saying, “It’s just wrong. It’s like someone saying to Elton John, ‘He’s straight.’ I’m sure he’d be pissed.”
And although Jackman clearly doesn’t mind stripping down and revealing his ripped physique that he earned from all those years training to play the physically demanding role of Wolverine, Furness is tired of hearing people tell her that she’s “lucky” to be married to one of Hollywood’s biggest stars.
“People don’t realize that it’s actually rude to say that,” she admitted, adding, “but that’s showbiz and Hollywood and the brand of Hugh Jackman.”
And what a brand, indeed!
