Han Solo and Chewbacca are making a big return to a galaxy far, far away!

Earlier this week, The Blast reported on the rumors that Harrison Ford, 79, has already finished filming a de-aged Han Solo for a "Star Wars" project.

Many have assumed that a young Solo will make a cameo appearance in season 3 of "The Mandalorian" or "The Book of Boba Fett," which is scheduled to debut on Disney+ on Wednesday, December 29. Although fans will have to speculate a bit longer on when or where Ford will appear, a new Han Solo and Chewbacca project has already been announced!

Han Solo & Chewbacca Series Coming In 2022

Writer Marc Guggenheim is bringing back the galaxy's favorite duo in a new Marvel comic book series scheduled for March 2022.

The series is said to take place between "Solo: A Star Wars Story" and "Star Wars: A New Hope," where audiences were first introduced to the "stuck-up, half-witted, scruffy-looking nerf herder. "

Guggenheim teased the return of a few familiar faces: including Greedo and Jabba the Hutt. The dynamic duo actually teams up with Greedo (who Solo famously shot in “A New Hope”) as they attempt to steal something for Jabba the Hutt.

"In the first issue, Jabba the Hutt gives them what should be an easy job: Steal something and bring it back to him,” he explains. “But the job turns out to be anything but easy as everything that can go wrong promptly does. I’ve structured the story such that each issue ends with some kind of cliffhanger."

He continued, "Sometimes, it’s a revelation; other times it’s placing Han and/or Chewie in an impossible spot, but either way, each issue ends with a plot reversal that drives you to the next issue. I’m particularly excited about the last page of issue one. The story takes a turn that, if I’ve played my cards right, is completely inevitable yet totally unexpected. Either way, it’s definitely going to have people talking. "

Guggenheim also teased that there will be a future issue from Chewbacca’s point of view. He said that Chewbacca was an "interesting character" to write for since he only speaks Shriiwook, but added that "hopefully, we can get into Chewie’s head in a way we never have seen before."

This Is The FIRST Han And Chewie Series Ever Made

Solo and Chewbacca have been beloved by fans since 1977, which makes it hard to believe that there has never been a series dedicated to the duo before.

Their back story has been explored in the EU, which ceased to become canon when George Lucas sold Lucasfilm to Disney in 2012.

Guggenheim said that "writing this book is like a hundred dreams come true for me. I’m really putting my back into it. I want to leave it all out on the field and have no regrets when I write 'the end' on the last issue."

One of Guggenheim's favorite parts of writing the series was exploring the chemistry between the pair.

"I love the fact that Han and Chewie are really the only two people in the galaxy the other trusts," he explained. "They have each other’s backs, always and forever, and that relationship is beautifully contrasted with all the scum and villainy their job requires them to deal with."

Fans can look forward to this new release in March 2022.
