Brittany Cartwright was shocked to find out that she is pregnant with a baby boy during her gender reveal party at her Los Angeles home last Sunday.
According to a report shared by Us Weekly magazine on September 30, Brittany was completely caught off-guard when she and husband Jax Taylor learned their first child is a son because she felt that she would be following in the footsteps of her Bravo co-stars, Stassi Schroeder and Lala Kent, who are both expecting girls.
Jax Taylor Was Hoping For A Son
“Brittany was shocked to find out they are having a boy,” a source told the outlet on Wednesday, adding that husband Jax “was praying for a boy.”
“He misses his [late] dad, [Ronald Cauchi], so much. He is beyond thrilled and feels lucky to be having a son,” the insider explained.
Brittany and Jax first shared their baby news with their fans and followers on social media on September 21, along with a photo of the two of them and a series of sonogram images.

“Mom and Dad,” Brittany wrote in the caption of her baby announcement. “The love of our lives is coming soon.”
“Soooo I am gonna be a dad,” Jax added in the caption of his own image.
While Brittany and Jax are quite close to both Stassi and Lala, Beau Clark, Stassi’s fiance, has reportedly already informed Jax that his son will not be dating his daughter or the daughter of Lala and her fiancé, Randall Emmett.
“Beau is already telling Jax his son can’t date his daughter or Lala’s,” an insider shared.
Jax Taylor Thought His First Child Would Be A Girl
Prior to their gender reveal, Jax told Randall that when it came to his first child, he was convinced it would be a girl.
“We’re very similar kind of guys and I just don’t think it’s in the cards for us to have boys,” he said in one of the movie producer’s Instagram Stories. “I think it’s gonna be a girl.”
Randall, as some “Vanderpump Rules” fans know, is already a dad to two girls, London and Rylee, who he shares with his ex-wife.
Jax Taylor Is Thrilled To Become A Father
During a December 2018 interview with Men’s Health magazine, Jax, who married wife Brittany in June 2019 in Kentucky, said that when it comes to becoming a father, he plans to go all in.
“I really want to be at every PTA meeting, every soccer practice, every ballerina class. My dad was there. I’ve done everything I’ve wanted to do, partied my brains out, traveled the world. It’s time to start the next stage in my life,” he said at the time.
