Olympic gymnast Nastia Liukin has no issues with being flexible, but one thing she won’t bend over backward for is an online troll who lashes out on social media. The gold medalist has been sharing tons of content from her family getaway in Montana, as the natural surroundings and outdoor activities have provided for a plethora of Instagrammable worthy moments that Liukin has posted online. From fly fishing to prancing through beautiful sunlit fields of flowers, Liukin has been soaking up all Big Sky Country has to offer.
30-year-old Nastia Liukin took to Instagram on Friday afternoon and dropped some new fire photos for her 1 million followers to enjoy. While posing near a rusted old pickup truck, the gold medal gymnast threw on a sheer cotton white dress and matching sweater and leaned up against the classic car.
Liukin topped her look with a pink cowboy hat and a beautiful necklace with a turquoise stone hanging on her chest. Instead of cowboy boots, the fashionista opted for a matching pair of hiking boots.
While most of Nastia Liukin’s fans praised the star for her outfit of the day, one local Montana resident felt the need to lash out at the star for taking selfies in her state.
“It’s pretty disappointing to see Californian celebrities come to our beautiful state only to do a western/country/cowgirl/cowboy photo shoot in western hats and boots. Jussayin,” the harsh critic wrote.
Not backing down from the shade, Liukin personally answered the “fan” in her own Instagram comments:
“not a Californian 🙂 we actually own a home here in your / our beautiful state that we love so much.”
The judges give Liukin’s response a perfect 10.
The five-time Olympic medalist had good reason to defend herself from the California callout, especially since she originally hails from Moscow, Russia when the country was still part of the Soviet Union. After the breakup of Soviet Russia, Liukin and her family moved to New Orleans before settling down in Plano, Texas.
After her Olympic glory in 2008, Liukin attended New York University before moving back and settling down in Parker, Texas and also visiting the family’s vacation home in Montana.
While spending time in Montana, Nastia Liukin has been able to unplug a bit, although not from Instagram. She revealed to fans that the mountain home is her “happy place,” and she enjoys taking part in outdoor activities, like hiking and fly fishing. During the week, she shared some photos with her father, fellow Olympic gymnast Valeri Liukin. Valeri, who coached Nastia throughout her gymnastics career, was showing his daughter the ropes on how to hook and reel.
“if you’re wondering his coaching was just as technical as it was while trying to learn my olympic bar routine,” Nastia wrote while showing off a photo of the daddy/daughter duo.
