Luckily, a fresh teaser from the production team has given new insights about the possible plot summary for "The Matrix Resurrections." With over six million views on YouTube and counting, it evidently tells the intense and passionate feeling the franchise has evoked in the hearts of many.
Read below the new clues about the trailer, reactions, and more juicy tidbits.
New Insights Fans Gleaned From The Second Trailer
For most action movies with a history stretching back decades, it is unsurprising to see the details kept under wraps to build fan's anticipation before the debut date. However, showrunners and cast have been tight-lipped about "The Matrix Resurrections" plot in a way that seems more than necessary.
Fans have had to sleuth around by piecing together bits and parts from the trailer to give themselves clues about the new movie. So far, one notable hint is that the film backdrops in an era where there is no matrix, only for Neo/Thomas Anderson, played by Keanu Reeves, to be thrown back into its vivid techno world after taking a pill.
The new trailer followed up from a detail in the former that showed Neo had lost portions of his memory. Surprisingly, he seems to have retained his elite fighting skills that thrilled fans across the previous sequels.
Another certainty revealed in the trailer was Neo and Trinity reuniting on the silver screen. Clearly, it is safe to allude that the plot summary contains details of the pair fighting for their love again against many odds.
Fan's Reaction To The New Trailer
Like the first trailer, the new one included several scenes that depicted a lot of signature Wachowski-style action sequences amongst many other enthralling cast conversations that brought back nostalgic feelings.
From the looks of the comment section of Warner Bros. Youtube page, emotions are really high as the film's premiere draws closer.
One fan gushed about his excitement, "This specific trailer has me in constant chills, teary-eyed... and omg, I cannot wait... my inner geek is so excited. The Trilogy was and still is my all-time favorite. It also has me so thrilled for what is next!"
"The first Matrix was revolutionary, for what it did to action sequences, CGI and sci-fi as a whole. I cannot explain how badly I want this film to be so good. I really hope it is," another fan wished.
What Is The Release Date?
From all indications, fans have enjoyed the previous trailer and are looking forward to the final chapter in the Matrix franchise. When it finally comes, the theaters are sure to be packed with wide-eyed fans hoping to experience the iconic action and technological thrills the movie will bring.
Fortunately, the debut date is only days away, and fans do not have to wait too long to see their favorites reprise their roles on the big screens after the delay caused by the pandemic.
"The Matrix Resurrections" features many newcomers that will further etch the franchise's legacy in the sands of time as a classic that changed the lives of many viewers. The movie will be available for streaming on HBO Max on December 22, 2021. It will also premiere in the theaters, as showrunners are looking to increase the viewing and ratings by having a simultaneous release.
Who Are The Major Newcomers?
According to Vulture, fans will see the return of Reeves as Neo/Thomas Anderson, Carrie-Anne Moss reprising her Trinity role, as well as the comeback of "Gotham" star Jada Pinkett Smith as Niobe, despite her absence from both trailers.
Two newcomers will also play roles in the new film taking over from old characters from the previous installments. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II looks like the new Morpheus, a character formerly played by Laurence Fishburne — who received no offers to reprise the role.
Already, Abdul-Mateen's character can be seen from the trailer awakening Anderson's alter ego by giving him a red pill that returns the lead actor to the Matrix.
Also, the new trailer confirms that Jonathan Groff replaces Hugo Weaving as a replica of Agent Smith. Unfortunately, Weaving had to pass up the offer to return due to scheduling issues.
