Jonah Hill Helped Meryl Streep Get Back On Track for New Movie

Recently Meryl Streep mentioned that the lockdown really got to her. When she got back to work on the movie Don't Look Up it was like she had literally forgotten how to act. The 3 time Oscar winner revealed that she was really in a bad place after spending time in the COVID lockdown. That then lead to her feeling like an amateur on set. Luckily though Jonah Hill was there to help. Yeah, you read that right Jonah Hill helped Meryl Streep out of our her acting slump.

The few times that the public got a chance to see Meryl Streep during the COVID lockdown she looked like she was really having a heck of a time. Messy hair and afternoon cocktails always seem like a good idea. That being said, the lockdown potentially lasted way more than what anyone had anticipated. Meryl herself even admitted that she didn't really have a problem with the lockdown per se. Her troubles came when she walked back out in front of the cameras to resume her job. That's when things really started to hit. Meryl recalled her days in lockdown though saying,

"I didn't feel funny in the lockdown,[but] When I would come in to shoot my stuff, [I'd] get out of the car and hadn't spoken to anybody in three weeks."

After not speaking to anyone in weeks having to put on a wig and pretend to be someone else certainly could be an overwhelming experience. It was at this point that Meryl Streep mentioned that she just lost it. Going as far as to admit that she had forgotten how to act! This is essentially the moment that Jonah Hill had to come to the rescue. Meryl Streep recalls that in those overwhelming moments for her, it was Jonah Hill who was able to make her laugh. Those small gestures essentially got her through the tough time. Meryl mentioned,

"I just lost it. I forgot how to act, I forgot what I was about. It sort of dismantles your humanity, to be isolated like that. But thank god for Jonah, because he kept us laughing."

Jonah Hill also talked about his experience working on the movie. He shared that he had a great time on set. While also giving Meryl a special shout out. The "This is The End", and "Wolff of Wall Street" start mentioned,

“I had so much fun, once we were in that Oval Office it was so cool, because it was a bunch of people I either know really well and/or deeply respect. It was like, oh my god, we can joke around together. Meryl was so rad, not because of your stature in your art, but because of how fun and funny you were in the pocket of this character.”
