The dog days of summer may have just passed, but Carmen Electra is still taking a moment to pay homage to one of the coolest treats to enjoy when it’s scorching hot out — an ice cream cone! The former “Baywatch” star took to Instagram on Tuesday afternoon to get in National Ice Cream Cone Day, a day dedicated exclusively to serving up a swirl in a delicious cone. Electra sent out a sweet message to fans and served up enough heat to melt an entire sundae.
The model and actress revealed how she likes to enjoy a frosty ice cream cone when she dropped a photo of herself in tiny red bikini bottoms. Wearing a shirt that read, “You Are Unique,” Electra looked positively delighted to be enjoying a chocolate-dipped ice cream cone.
“Happy National Ice cream Cone Day,” she wrote in reference to the unofficial holiday of September 22.
Americans do love the ice cream cones, and in fact the cone-shaped pastry is also the official dessert of the state of Missouri.
According to the International Dairy Foods Association, the ice cream cone can be traced back to Italy when it was first produced by Italo Marchiony, who emigrated from Italy to NYC in the late 1800s.
The ice cream cone really took off in popularity during the 1904 St. Louis World’s Fair after Syrian-born Ernest Hamwi was selling a waffle-like pastry next to an ice cream vendor.
According to the IDFA, when the ice cream vendor ran out of dishes to serve customers, Hamwi offered up a solution when he rolled his pastries into cones and began filling them with ice cream.
Carmen Electra’s photo was super sweet, but it happened to be from 2012 as the star continues her trend of sharing memories from her illustrious career. The ice cream throwback comes on the heels of Electra reminiscing about some big moments in her life, including her time on “Baywatch” and her long-running stint with “The Pussycat Dolls.”
Taking to social media, Carmen Electra recently shared a few scenes from her own famous moments in the “Baywatch” showers.
“That Baywatch shower moment,” the star captioned the steamy shots of Lani toweling off.
Electra also recently flaunted a look from her “Pussycat Doll” days when she performed at a huge fashion show for Christian Dior.
It’s not highly publicized, but Carmen Electra was actually one of the original members of the Pussycat Dolls back in 1993 when it was just a burlesque troupe founded by famed choreographer Robin Antin.
Antin later restructured the group with singer and dancer Nicole Scherzinger alongside Carmit Bachar, Melody Thornton, Jessica Sutta, Ashley Roberts and Kimberly Wyatt.
The group then exploded into a pop-star phenomenon, but Electra was not part of the ultimate success in the music business. She later returned to perform as a member during many of the live shows.
