Is Harrison Ford really headed back to a galaxy far, far away?

Ford first made his appearance as the loveable scoundrel Han Solo in 1977’s “A New Hope.” He reprised his role in 1980’s “The Empire Strikes Back” and completed his run in the original trilogy with 1983’s “Return of the Jedi.”

In 2015, Ford reprised his role as the infamous smuggler for J.J. Abrams’ first installment of the sequel trilogy, “The Force Awakens.” Unfortunately, he met his demise at the hands of his son, the villainous Kylo Ren, played by Adam Driver. Although his character may have died, that didn’t stop Ford from making a return appearance in 2019’s “The Rise of Skywalker” as a Force Ghost to bring help to bring Ben Solo back to the light.

Although Ben Solo also passed into the Force at the end of the Skywalker Saga, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy recently teased that she’s not done with the sequel trilogy characters just yet… and that might include Han Solo!

Han Solo Is Making An Appearance In ‘Star Wars’ Yet Again?!

According to Giant Freakin Robot, Ford has already finished filming his part for an upcoming project. However, this doesn’t seem to be related to his role in the sequel trilogy. Instead, it seems that Ford will be making an appearance as a de-aged Han Solo in one of the Disney+ live-action series.

Considering that fans saw a de-aged Mark Hamill appear as Luke Skywalker in the season 2 finale of “The Mandalorian,” it’s possible that fans will be able to see Ford appear in season 3 of “The Mandalorian.” It’s also possible that he filmed a small part for “The Book of Boba Fett,” which is set to stream on Wednesday, December 29.

There are also plenty of other live-action shows that he can be involved in as well. Disney+ is looking to put out the Ewan McGregor-led “Kenobi,” as well as the Diego Luna “Andor” series sometime in 2022.

Although Disney+ has also announced that Rosario Dawson will reprise her role in “Ahsoka,” it seems unlikely that Ford would be attached to that project, with a projected release date of 2023. Disney+ also tapped a former “The Hunger Games” star to lead their Sith-centered “The Acolyte” series, but there is no release date attached to that project.

Ford, 79, has been hard at work filming the still-untitled fifth installment in the “Indiana Jones” franchise. Although he will be starring alongside Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Mads Mikkelsen, surprisingly little is known about the film.

The film is described as a sequel to 2008’s “Kingdom of the Crystal Skull,” which did not sit well with fans. This installment is directed by James Mangold, who co-wrote the script along with Jez Butterworth and John-Henry Butterworth.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, filming has been pushed back several times. Filming was postponed this summer when Ford sustained an injury to his shoulder while rehearsing a fight scene, and he did not return to the film set until October.

The film currently has an anticipated release date of June 30, 2023.
