Sonja Morgan was just dealt with a major blow.
Just months after she and her “Real Housewives of New York City” co-stars attended the launch of her clothing line at Century 21, Sonja has learned that the retailer has filed for bankruptcy.
“I found a family there and a home for my collection,” she told Page Six on September 12. “All these years I was looking for the right place.”
Sadly, Century 21 has fallen on hard times and is set to close its 13 locations.
Sonja Morgan Has Been Left In Shock
After first launching her fashion collection in 2014, Sonja seemingly hit the jackpot when she inked a deal with Century 21. However, just months into the partnership, Century 21 is going out of business, leaving Sonja feeling as if the “rug has been pulled from under” her.
Looking back Sonja said that before deciding to launch her latest collection with Century 21, she turned down deals with several retailers.
According to Sonja, she did so because she “felt safe with [Century 21].”
Sonja Morgan Was Planning On A Shopping Spree With Those In Need
In addition to losing her home for her clothing line, Sonja has also been faced to cancel her plan to take a number of people in need of a much-deserved shopping spree with the company.
“I was going to be Chief Lifestyle Officer taking people on shopping sprees. Helping people who have gone through a hard time before the pandemic,” she shared, adding that the shopping sprees would have allowed “people [to] transition through hard times in their life” and provided wardrobes for people who need to “get a leg up on a job interview.”
Sonja Morgan Won’t Be Going To Century 21 For A Final Visit
“I was going to be helping people at this point in my life — that’s what I was looking forward to,” Sonja continued. “It was going to be soul food to make me feel better on a day-to-day level. It was not just about raising millions. I was just going to go on a day-to-day level with Century 21, and help people with a $500 shopping spree.”
Sonja is understandably devastated by the Century 21 closures and can’t bring herself to venture to her collection’s former home.
Sonja Morgan Has Not Yet Announced Future Plans For Her Collection
“I don’t plan on going to Century 21 for a last [time]. I can’t even bring myself to do that,” she admitted.
As for where her clothing line could land in the future, Sonja didn’t say where it could be, or when it could arrive somewhere new.
To see more of Sonja and her castmates, don’t miss the second installment of the three-part reunion special for “The Real Housewives of New York City,” which airs this Thursday, September 17, at 9 p.m. on Bravo.
