Actress Kate Winslet has done plenty of erotic scenes in the past, think “Titanic”, “Little Children” and “Revolutionary Road”. Now it’s a lesbian sex scene between her and Saoirse Ronan in the 2020 movie, “Ammonite” that is exciting fans because of the casting and the intensity.

The movie is a period drama by director Francis Lee, just premiering at the virtual Toronto International Film Festival of 2020 and is creating quite the buzz because of the storyline and of course, the woman-on-woman action…

In “Ammonite” Saoirse plays the role of Charlotte Murchison, a British geologist who is suffering from a personal tragedy and is sent off to the coast by her husband to recuperate.

The 1994-born Saoirse Ronan is known for choosing and doing justice to rather acclaimed roles like playing Jo March in the Greta Gerwig movie “Little Women” as well as her earlier role in “Ladybird”. She has been nominated for the Academy Award thrice already, and her casting opposite Kate Winslet has made fans itch to watch the movie.

Wrote one, “My big, gay heart is exploding”.

Kate Winslet is Mary Anning, an acclaimed but self-taught paleontologist who is now poverty-stricken and makes money by searching for fossils along the coast and selling them to tourists for money.

Despite her financial issues, she is still proud, and her house guest, Charlotte, and she clash a bit before discovering they have feelings for each other. Unlike many movies that show lesbianism in a wishy-washy way or a more of titillations, “Ammonite” is real, earthy, and raw.

The reason behind why the sex scene is so well done is because it was Winslet and Ronan who got together and decided to choreograph it to a tee.

According to Hollywood Reporter, Winslet said the duo worked it out, “We’ll start here. We’ll do this with the kissing, boobs, you go down there, then you do this, then you climb up here. I mean, we marked out the beats of the scene so that we were anchored in something that just supported the narrative.”

And Winslet says she was the least self-conscious while doing this, and it’s all her natural body.

Winslet admitted that doing the sex scene excited her more than scared her because it was the first time people could see a 40-plus woman, who had children, being herself in her own skin.

Said Winslet, “I’m nearly 45, and Saoirse is almost half my age. And to have an opportunity to be my real 40-something self, post-children, you know? Women aren’t really having the courage to do that. I was just excited to say, ‘This is what it is, peeps. This is how I am now, and it’s very much not the body I had 20 years ago'”.
