Joe Exotic desperately wants out of prison and now he is begging Donald Trump to pardon him. The star of the Netflix docuseries “Tiger King” wrote a 257-page plea to Trump asking him to be his “hero” and grant him an early release. Exotic, whose real name is Joseph Maldonado-Passage, is currently serving a 22-year sentence for a plot to have a hired killer murder his rival Carole Baskin.
“I have been sexually assaulted by jail staff, beat up and tied in a chair to the point the skin came off my arms,” Exotic claims in the letter to Trump.
“Please be my hero… My hands are damaged from the abuse in jail so I’m sorry for the soppy (sic) writing and spelling,” Exotic continued. “Allow me to make you proud, to make America proud, to make the world proud. Be my hero please.”
Exotic went on to once again deny any wrongdoing or plot to have Baskin killed. He also added an endorsement for Trump’s son to be president. “#TrumpJr.2024,” he wrote.
Dillion Passage, Exotic’s husband, also included a note. “I see a sweet, big heart man, with good intentions, who took a few steps down a dark road, and he’s just waiting to be pulled out of it,” he wrote.
Exotic’s team announced recently that he was moved out of solitary confinement, where he’d been as a coronavirus precaution, and into much better living conditions.
“BREAKING: Joe Exotic has been moved out of the SHU (isolation)!! He now has a room with a hospital bed and a WINDOW!” his reps posted on Instagram.
Joe claimed in a letter that was posted to social media that he was not being allowed important medications and said if not moved he would be “dead in 2-3 months.”
“My soul is dead, I struggle every day to hold onto what little hope I can find, they keep me locked down 24/7 with no phone, email or commissary and you will never understand the mental abuse this does to a person,” his message read.
He continued, “I’m losing weight, sores won’t heal, I’ll be dead in 2-3 months. It’s like I have been sent to death row, they stopped all of my medication except one. This place is hell on earth, and the mental torture of being locked in this room alone and not even hearing Dillon’s voice or a letter.”
Trump was previously asked about possibly pardoning Exotic during a COVID-19 briefing in April. He said at the time that he would “look into it.”
