‘House Of Gucci’ Gets Snubbed On Golden Globe Nominations!

On Monday, December 13, the nominations for the 79th Annual Golden Globe Awards were finally released!
Although “House of Gucci” and “Spencer” were expected to sweep the award ceremony, it was “The Power of the Dog” and “Belfast” that led film nominees with seven nominations each. The HBO drama “Succession” earned five nominations, while Apple’s comedy “Ted Lasso” and “The Morning Show” followed with four nominations.
The annual awards show will air on January 9, 2022.

In the category of Best Motion Picture – Drama, the science-fiction epic “Dune” competes with “King Richard,” “The Power of the Dog,” “Belfast,” and the Deaf-led “CODA.”
Actress Marlee Matlin, who didn’t earn a nomination for her role, has previously talked about how a huge win for “CODA” could break barriers for Deaf actors.
In the category of Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy, the star-studded “Don’t Look Up,” is competing with “Cyrano,” “Licorice Pizza,” “Tick, Tick…Boom!” and “West Side Story.”
For Best Motion Picture – Foreign Language, the nominees are “The Hand of God,” “A Hero,” “Parallel Mothers, “Compartment No. 6,” and “Drive My Car.”
The nominees for Best Director of a Motion Picture is a tight race between Kenneth Branagh for “Belfast,” Jane Campion for “The Power of the Dog,” Maggie Gyllenhaal for “The Lost Daughter,” Steven Spielberg for “West Side Story” and Denis Villeneuve for “Dune.”
Best Actors And Actresses For Film Roles
It’s a tight race for who will be named Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama. Mahershala Ali in “Swan Song,” Javier Bardem in “Being the Ricardos,” Benedict Cumberbatch in “The Power of the Dog,” Will Smith in “King Richard” and Denzel Washington in “The Tragedy of Macbeth” are all hoping to score a win.
Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama also faces a tight race from Jessica Chastain in “The Eyes of Tammy Faye,” Olivia Colman in “The Lost Daughter,” Nicole Kidman in “Being the Ricardos,” Lady Gaga in “House of Gucci,” and Kristen Stewart in “Spencer.”
Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy is between Leonardo DiCaprio in “Don’t Look Up,” Peter Dinklage in “Cyrano,” Andrew Garfield in “Tick, Tick…Boom!”, Copper Hoffman in “Licorice Pizza,” and Anthony Ramos in “In The Heights.”
Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy is between Marion Cotillard for the musical “Annette,” Alana Haim in “Licorice Pizza,” Jennifer Lawrence in “Don’t Look Up,” Emma Stone in “Cruella,” and Rachel Zegler in “West Side Story.”
Best Television Series
The race for Best Television Series - Drama is between the popular Netflix show “Squid Game,” “Succession,” “The Morning Show,” “Pose,” and “Lupin.”
The Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy is between “The Great,” “Hacks,” “Only Murders In The Building,” “Reservation Dogs,” and “Ted Lasso.”
The nominees for Best Television Limited Series or Motion Picture Made For Television are “Dopesick,” “Impeachment: American Crime Story,” “Maid,” “Mare of Eastown,” and “The Underground Railroad.”
