Jesy Nelson has managed to rub her peers with the wrong vibe yet again. The former Little Mix group member was given the opportunity to perform her new single “Boyz” at the 2021 Jingle Bell Ball and while there were several pressing issues, the Twitterverse agreed that Nelson’s off lizard tongue movements were the weirdest thing about the performance.

Nelson must have been super into her new track because her performance involved a lot of tongue-out movements that were hard to ignore. So, of course, she was trolled on social media for essentially not knowing how to keep her tongue in her mouth.

“What the Honey G is Jesy Nelson doing seriously” asked one confused fan. “Nothing could’ve prepared me for that Jesy nelson performance. Nothing,” shared another shocked fan. Nelson’s tongue jab was accompanied by a few awkwardly seductive looks into the camera.

Some fans were more concerned with Nelson’s personal hygiene. “Just watched jesy nelson's performance and all i have to say is, she needs to brush her tongue.”

While the 30-year-old’s performance was the highlight of the night, her outfit was also a serious topic of conversation. “STOP SAYING SHE LOOKS LIKE MELMAN (the giraffe from madagascar) jesy nelson is a show stopper! i love her so much,” chimed in a supportive fan after social media ripped her a new one for her outfit.

The leather (maybe faux leather) ensemble was bold. It featured feathers all along the sleeve and a matching bra top and pockets randomly placed on the pants. The thing that threw most people off was the color. While it was a popping shade of orange and brown, fans thought it was an off choice for Nelson who tans… heavily.

That fact aside, the blackfishing topic came back around because the singer decided to sport the word “Black” on her jacket.

Not too long ago, Nelson was blasted for the music video to her single “Boyz”. Her fans believed that she has purposely tanned a little too dark and was trying her hardest to “be black” to sell her single. It didn’t help that Nicki Minaj was on the track adding to the blackfishing theory

The situation became worse when Nelson and Nicki did an IG live basically dedicated to the singer claiming to not be involved in blackfishing with Nicki as her hype girl. That scenario didn’t sit well with either of their fans, or former band members. Leigh-Anne Pinnock called Nelson out soon after the single dropped.

“Capitalising on aspects of blackness without having to endure the daily realities of the black experience is problematic and harmful to people of colour,” stated Pinnock. “We think it's absolutely not OK to use harmful stereotypes. There's so much to say on that subject that it's hard to sum up in a sound bite.” Yeah, so the fact that Nelson is wearing a jacket that says “Black” is weird.

As cringe as it is, the video is entertaining to watch. However, for Nelson, the whole experience was different. “It is smaller, I'm not going to lie. Last time we had Bieber's one. I miss the big room” she said of her dressing room.

In regard to her performance, before going on stage, the singer shared that she wasn’t nervous at all because “an arena is my home, that's where I feel the most confident.”

That must have been why she and that tongue were moving like that!
