On Wednesday, a homeless man tried to burn down the Fox News Christmas tree.

The 50-foot metal superstructure took over 21 hours to assemble.

Craig Tamanaha, 49, was arrested as the assumed arsonist.

Although no motive was presented, officials believe mental illness to be a factor.

However, prosecution dropped the number of charges against him from seven to three.

They let him walk free and released him without bail.

He is due back in court on January 4, 2022.

Tamanaha could face 2 to 7 years behind bars if convicted.

The All-American Christmas Tree has since been rebuilt.
