Amy Schumer Asks For Public's Help: #FreeTheGrilledCheese!

Amy Schumer is asking the public for help today via her IG account!

While making her son Gene a grilled cheese, she somehow managed to trap the sandwich inside the pan. This lid is NOT coming off.

In her video post she can be seen banging the pan upside down on the countertop to try and dislodge the lid, while saying, “There’s literally nothing anyone can do to try and get it out.”

Her husband, Chris Fischer, decides to give it a try and picks up a kitchen utensil with a wooden handle. He stabs at the lid with it, handle side down, also unable to free the grilled cheese.

She’s open to any and all tips from the public at this point, because they are out of ideas.

Will 2 year old Gene ever get his sandwich???

Schumer had her own streaming cooking show called “Amy Schumer Learns To Cook”, which launched in 2020 on Food Network.

This Friday cooking faux pas Amy shared would have made a perfectly hilarious segment for her show. On “Learns To Cook”, Amy literally learns to cook from her chef husband. An amateur in the kitchen learning from a professional, who happened to be married to one another makes for extremely entertaining on-screen chemistry.

Today however, it seems as though both of them could use a little help, not with the cooking, but with operating the kitchenware!

Was the wrong sized lid used? Were the cooking conditions unfavorable, causing a suction-like reaction between the lid and pan? We may never know the actual cause...However, solutions from the public is what we’re hoping for!

Fans are chiming in with their best advice on how to #FreeTheGrilledCheese. Over 1,000 suggestions have poured in since she posted:

While it’s unclear if a Season 3 of the show will ever air, since the timeline originally set for it has since long passed, the first two seasons are available for viewing on most streaming platforms. It’s ‘Rotten Tomatoes’ Score was low, but it remained a fan favorite amongst viewers. We all love seeing celebrities outside of their professional atmospheres and behaving as real people. Add food and cocktails to that and who wouldn’t be entertained?

The couple started their streaming show during the COVID- 19 pandemic, and while it may not make an official return, we can all tune in to their Instagram accounts to follow along with their continued cooking antics!

I personally think Celebrities on Sandwiches needs to address #FreeTheGrilledCheese with one of their famous sketches. Amy Schumer on grilled cheese, please!

We know that Amy married Chris in 2018.

We know that baby Gene was born in 2019.

We know that “Amy Schumer Learns To Cook” aired in 2020.

We know that Amy trapped her son’s grilled cheese in a pan in 2021.

What we don’t know is if that sandwich will ever be freed…
