Taylor Swift is not having a merry December! The Pop idol was recently slapped with plagiarism charges for her 2014 hit song, "Shake It Off."

The Guardian shared the shocking news following a US judge's decision to allow the copyright case to be presented in front of a jury.

This new development came three years after the 31-year-old was initially accused of stealing the lyrics to her chart-topping track from another popular song.

Taylor Swift To Face Trial In "Shake It Off" Plagiarism Lawsuit

Swift's reputation is on the line as songwriters Sean Hall and Nathan Butler have filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against the 11-time Grammy winner.

The lyricists claimed the critically-acclaimed songstress stole the wordplay "players gonna play" and "haters gonna hate" from 3LW's track "Playas Gon' Play."

Hall and Butler believed the catchy chorus from "Shake It Off" was a variation of the 2001 song they wrote for the former girl group.

In 2018, District Judge Michael W Fitzgerald initially dismissed this case, who pointed out that the lyrics were a common phrase used by various artists such as Notorious BIG and Fleetwood Mac.

Therefore the offended songwriters could not sue for copyright infringement. In response, Hall and Butler appealed for a jury trial, which eventually led to a federal court reversing Fitzgerald's ruling in October 2019.

At the time, the "Cats" star's representative stated that the true originators of "Shake It Off" — Swift and co-producers Max Martin and Shellback, would prevail over these false allegations.

However, everything changed on December 9 after Fitzgerald denied the "Blank Space" singer's request for a summary judgment — an immediate ruling that the Emmy winner was free of plagiarism charges.

Although there were differences between both songs, the judge stated that there were also noticeable similarities in the "word usage and structure."

In conclusion, the court couldn't dismiss the case given the possibility that a reasonable jury could find substantial evidence of plagiarism. A date for the new trial is still pending.

The AMA Winner's "Red" Album Has Two Songs That May Be About Her Ex-Boyfriend

Swift is famous for writing songs based on her personal experiences, especially romance. The Blast previously revealed that the blonde beauty's latest album, "Red (Taylor's Version)," has two special songs.

The tracks "All Too Well" and "I Bet You Think About Me" featuring Chris Stapleton has gathered attention. The emotional lyrics seemed directed at the actor Jake Gyllenhaal, the singer's ex-boyfriend.

The former couple dated briefly in 2010, and their relationship sparked concerns as the Grammy winner was 20 while the Hollywood heartthrob was 29.

Fans believed "I Bet You Think About Me," and the emotional short film for the 10-minute song "All Too Well" was inspired by the 31-year-old's relationship with "The Guilty" star.

Gyllenhaal also began trending following the release of "All Too Well," as many people believed the actor still had Swift's red scarf depicted in the song's music video.

The truth behind Swift's songs is still a mystery as the "Brokeback Mountain" actor rarely discussed his ex-girlfriend or her music.
