The family at the center of TLC’s hit show “Counting On” is growing yet again. Joseph Duggar, the 25-year-old son of Jim Bob and Michelle, announced with his wife Kendra that they are expecting their third child. They just had their second child, daughter Addison Renee nine months ago, and also share two-year-old Garrett David. The couple called this third baby the “tie-breaker” that will determine if there are more boys or girls in their household.
“We are so excited to announce that we have a tie-breaker coming in February. Baby #3 is on the way!” the couple told PEOPLE on Wednesday. “We are so excited to see Garrett and Addison’s reaction when they meet the new baby. Garrett has already been such a loving big brother to Addison and we look forward to Addison’s reaction to a life-size baby doll. Life is full of surprises and we’re thrilled that it is a sweet baby that surprises us this time!”
Like almost all of the Duggar kids, Joseph got married at a young age and started having kids early. He was just 22 when he wed Kendra, who was only 19 at the time. They were married in September 2017 and told PEOPLE at the time how excited they were.
“It is an amazing feeling to be husband and wife,” Duggar said. “It’s something that I’ve always dreamed of to have a wife and to raise a family in a way that honors the Lord. We are very excited to see what God has in the future for us.”
Almost nine months to the day after they were married, Duggar and Kendra welcomed Garrett David in June 2018.
“No matter how many times we’ve experienced the joy of babies born in our families, there’s nothing comparable to the joy in our hearts today,” they said in their baby announcement at the time. “Children truly are a gift from God. We are so thankful for his safe arrival and this new journey as parents.”
Less than a year after their first child was born, they announced they were expecting once again in April of last year.
“Being parents has already proven to be a greater joy than we had hoped or imagined,” they said. “We love getting to parent together and are loving every moment and milestone. We are very happy that our little family will welcome a new addition later this year. Children really are a blessing from God!”
