In April 2020, rumors started swirling that Gigi Hadid was expecting her first child with on-and-off-again boyfriend, Zayn Malik.
She confirmed her pregnancy that month while interviewing with Jimmy Fallon.
“Obviously, we wish we could have announced it on our own terms,” Hadid told the host. “We’re very excited and happy and grateful for everyone’s well wishes and support.”
Since announcing she was expecting, the 25-year-old hasn’t shared too much about her pregnancy.
But yesterday, the model gave fans a glimpse into her life while sharing a rare selfie of herself sitting in a car.
In the snap, Hadid’s usual blonde-highlights were gone and her natural brunette colored-hair was styled in a high ponytail.
Last month the California-native shared a photo of herself, while briefly showing fans her growing belly bump during an Instagram Live.
During the Instagram Live, Hadid opened up on why she’s been keeping her pregnancy out of the public eye.
“I’m so grateful for the positive comments and the questions, and wanting just to know that we’re all good and safe, and everything’s going great and I love you guys. I do appreciate those positive comments,” she said.

“Obviously, I think a lot of people are confused why I’m not sharing more, but, like, I’m pregnant through a pandemic, like, obviously, my pregnancy is not the most important thing going on in the world.”
Hadid continued, “That’s a reason that I felt that it’s not really something that I need to share apart from with my family and friends. Obviously, a lot of people have lost lives due to coronavirus, that was in the beginning of quarantine and still happening. And then we moved, obviously, into the reemergence of the BLM movement, and I thought that our presence on social media should be used for that.”
But the model made it clear she was still enjoying the experience.
“I have been taking a lot of pictures of my bump and sending it to friends and family, and it’s been really cute and exciting, and I’m trying to document it well, because I’ve heard a lot of people say, obviously, ‘Make sure you don’t miss it,'” Hadid explained.
She added, “And I will be sharing stuff like that in the future. I just am not rushed to do it, and I feel like right now I just want to experience it.”
At the end of April, Hadid’s mother, Yolanda, said the baby was due in September.
“Of course we are so excited. I’m excited to become Oma in September, especially after I lost my mom so recently. But this is the beauty of life, one soul leaves us and a new one comes in. We feel very blessed,” she said during an interview with Dutch celebrity news show “RTL Boulevard.”
So it looks like Hadid and Malik will be saying “hi” to their bundle of joy in the next few weeks.
