The auction is supposed to last until August 22 but now, there is a huge problem. The issue here is the alleged authenticity of the jersey. According to TMZ, Strahan is denying that that was the jersey he wore that night in 2008. A source close to Strahan says that he still has the SB jersey framed inside his home. As of now, Goldin Auctions has not addressed the response by Strahan and the source. The jersey could be close to its auction ending due to this issue, though.

The item is all-white with number lettering as it's the Giants' alternative jersey. It definitely appeared to be authentic with all of the grass stains displayed all over it. The Super Bowl 42 patch is also shown on the front of the jersey. As of now, Strahan hasn't addressed the jersey publicly on social media. It appears that he will handle this situation privately and let his legal team end the auction should it actually be counterfeit and not the jersey he wore.

If this jersey is indeed counterfeit, one has to wonder if Goldin Auctions takes a hit with its credibility. The jersey was on pace to be sold at $100,000 and now, it runs into this wall of controversy. Hopefully, this gets sorted out soon. If Strahan has the actual jersey, we will see if he is actually willing to sell that jersey for auction. Considering he may not need to sell his prized possessions, this seems like a very unlikely scenario.
