Katie Maloney believes that when it comes to the upcoming ninth season of "Vanderpump Rules," filming the new episodes is going to be a much different experience than it has in the past due to the recent firings of her former cast mates, Stassi Schroeder and Kristen Doute.

During an interview with Life & Style magazine on August 18, Katie said that because she and the rest of the cast aren't yet filming season nine, the exits of Stassi and Kristen haven't "become super real” for her quite yet.

“Until we get back to filming, I know it’s not going to be the same and be really weird,” Katie admitted, adding that she “accepts” the situation, but feels “it’s been crazy.”

Following the unexpected firings of her friends, who were accused of racist behavior, Katie says she's been doing her best to support Stassi and Kristen as they adjust to life without the cameras.

“I’ve just been trying to be supportive of Kristen and Stassi, and their journey now of, you know, the same things we’re all doing,” Katie explained.

After Stassi and Kristen were accused of racism, Katie began opening her mind up to different ideas and exposing herself to concepts she may not have normally entertained.

“I’m having the same conversations I’m having with them that I’m having with all my friends. Like, what’s going on and how we find our part in all of this and make a difference … They are actively doing that same thing, too. Yeah, we’ve all got a lot of work to do,” she shared.

In regard to the upcoming ninth season of "Vanderpump Rules," Katie said she and her cast mates are “just sitting ducks waiting to find out something” since they can’t “physically film the show” due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“Everything’s still shut down, you know, Sur and TomTom have not reopened,” the longtime Bravo star shared. “Until there’s bigger changes, or you know, COVID becomes less of a threat, it can’t happen. So, it’s just kind of contingent on all of this.”

Katie Maloney Dishes On Her New Podcast

Speaking of her podcast, Katie said she hopes to change preconceived notions about herself.

“I wanted to open that up more and kind of control the dialogue in a sense,” she explained. “I wanted to show a different side of myself. Also, just my experience of being on the show and being in the public eye and having a lot of outside opinions and feelings. I was put in a box and being labeled as a mean girl or a b***h or a bully, all those things.”

Fans can listen to Katie on her new podcast, "You're Gonna Love Me," which she launched with Dear Media earlier this month.
