Bethenny Frankel clearly has a soft spot for kids who are in need of a stable and happy home. The former "Real Housewives of New York" star revealed on social media over the weekend that she tried to adopt a three-year-old in the past, and offered to take in a nine-year-old boy who went viral after a local Oklahoma news affiliate shared his troubling story.
"The thing that surprises people is that once they get into the system, it is hard to get them out," Frankel continued. "Growing up, we always heard that everyone wants a baby and not an older kid.”
She then revealed that she tried to adopt a three-year-old in the past, but the process was too difficult. “I tried a while back to adopt a 3-year-old and it was a harder process than a newborn,” Frankel said. “If it's like other family law systems, it's not as easy as the movie[s] make it."
Aside from her line of Skinny Girl products, Frankel is best known for her two runs on "RHONY." She was one of the show's original cast members and appeared on Season 1-3 and then returned for Season 7-11. A year ago, she announced she would be leaving the show again.
“I wanted to take a moment to write a personal note to you. I am so grateful to you for sticking with me through everything. You started this journey with me in my tiny apartment in my late 30s, wondering what would happen to me. I was broke, single, had no family and no idea what the future held. I had big dreams and I never stopped, but I honestly didn’t know if I would ever get here," she said at the time.
During the most recent season of the show, she has been open about being upset by the way the women have talked about her. "The women have definitely had some unpleasant things to say about me … I wish them well," she told "Extra" after the season premiere.
