It's now been over two weeks since the sudden passing of Virgil Abloh, one of the most iconic fashion designers in the industry. At the time, he had been Louis Vuitton's Creative Director for over three years.

Virgil was also very successful with his Off-White fashion brand, which which went on to release collaboration sneakers with Nike/Jordan Brand. There has since been discussions as to who LV's next Creative Director may be in the aftermath of Virgil's passing, which was confirmed to have been due to a two-year battle with a rare form of cancer.

Kanye West Rumored To Be Next LV Creative Director

According to The Sun, Kanye West is reportedly being considered to take on this role, previously held by Virgil. He also is said to be understandably feeling "devastated," about Virgil's passing. At this point though, he reportedly feels that taking on this Creative Director role, would be continuing Virgil's work.

“Kanye is devastated about Virgil’s death because they had been friends for years and worked together a lot. They shared a similar vision and now Kanye feels he owes it to Virgil to continue his work at Louis Vuitton.”

Kanye had also collaborated with LV before, due to his relationship with Virgil. At the same time, Virgil also designed various album covers for Kanye, such as "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy," "Watch The Throne," and "Yeezus."

Kanye West And Kim Kardashian Attended Virgil's Final LV Fashion Show

Last week, Kanye and his estranged wife, Kim Kardashian, attended Virgil's final Louis Vuitton fashion show, in Miami. This was for the iconic brand's spring and summer 2022 men's collection. Kanye and Kim also brought their eldest child, North, to the show. All three were seen sporting all-black outfits, in addition to black sunglasses.

Kanye ended up being spotted sitting next to Pharrell Williams, as they enjoyed the music being played and the show itself. Among the rappers who went on to walk in the show were Quavo, Offset, and Kid Cudi.

Louis Vuitton CEO Spoke About Virgil Ahead Of Fashion Show

On the day that Virgil passed, Louis Vuitton's Chairman and CEO Michael Burke went on to release a statement about that sudden tragedy. It was then that he revealed that LV would have this fashion show, in memory of Virgil.

“It is with profound sorrow that I learned of the passing of Virgil Abloh. Virgil was not only a friend, great collaborator, creative genius, visionary and disruptor, but also one of the best cultural communicators of our times. He paved the way for future generations. As a devoted supporter of his community through his charities and passions, he was an eternal optimist who believed anything was possible. In this same spirit, we at Louis Vuitton will proudly continue to celebrate his legacy with a final show in Miami, per his wishes. I am honored to have called him my friend. My deepest thoughts are with his wife, children, parents, family and the entire community that was touched by his greatness.”
