Singer Ed Sheeran is bringing the charity this holiday season!
Last week, Sheeran finally released his “Merry Christmas” collaboration with Sir Elton John. The two artists decided to honor the true meaning of Christmas by donating all proceeds from the holiday season to their two charities.
Some proceeds went to the Elton John AIDS Foundation, which was started in 1992. The nonprofit organization “supports innovative HIV prevention, education programs, direct care, and support services to people living with HIV.”
Other proceeds went to the Ed Sheeran Suffolk Music Foundation, which Sheeran started in 2019. The goal of the Foundation is to provide upcoming artists age 18 and under with “small but hopefully used grants” to start a career in music.
The fledgling program only accepts applicants from the Suffolk area at the moment, in the area where Sheeran grew up and began his music career. However, Sheeran is hoping that the program will be able to reach out and support other areas with additional funding.
In addition to his own charity, Sheeran just launched a fan giveaway to benefit other charities this holiday season.

On Thursday morning, Sheeran revealed a giveaway to win a one-of-a-kind prototype guitar to benefit other charities in Suffolk.
In the caption, he revealed that the guitar fans can win is a prototype for his = (equals) guitar. He explained that “entry into the raffle is £5 and all the money raised will help to build a music facility and disabled access for a school in my home town of Framlingham and to other @geewizzcharity projects in Suffolk.”
He added more information on the prize, saying, “The guitar has been handmade by the brilliant George Lowden, who has made my guitars for the past six years. It is crafted from wood from walnut and spruce trees that have fallen down naturally. The guitar is the very first of its kind and will be personalised by me for you.”
In the video promoting the giveaway, Sheeran said that he will personalize the guitar in any way the winner wants, including adding his autograph, signing their name, adding song lyrics, or anything the winner wants.
The giveaway is open starting today, December 9, and runs until Sunday, December 19. He explained that the link to enter is in his Instagram Stories, or interested fans can also go to www.geewizzcharity.com/EdGuitarRaffle.
Fans lit up the post with heart emojis and enthused the singer’s charity. “Hello Ed,” one fan wrote. “Such a good idea, I hope many people can donate.”

In addition to Sir Elton John, fans are hoping that Ed Sheeran will collaborate with “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” herself, Sarah Michelle Gellar.
Sheeran admitted to being a huge fan of the show growing up and even streamed all 7-seasons off the show during the COVID-19 lockdown last year. He sampled “Remembering Jenny,” a soundtrack from the show, in his song “Afire Love” and the show also influenced the music video for his latest release, “Bad Habits.”
In an Instagram exchange, Gellar wrote, “I interrupt my vacation to bring you some @teddysphotos – but next time instead of being inspired by, just put me in your video…please…thank you. #edsheeran.”
Sheeran replied, “If you’re serious we have to make that happen. Thank you so much for the video message too, I’m sure a huge fan. My song Afire Love samples remembering Jenny from season 2, proper fanboy over here x.”
Over the weekend, fans went crazy when Gellar and Sheeran posed for a photo together. Although they didn’t tease a collaboration, fans have their fingers crossed that they’ll be able to see Gellar appear in a Sheeran music video in the near future!
