'RHONY' Star Leah McSweeney Slams Fans Criticizing Her Sheer Mask

By Clark Sparky

Leah McSweeney showed off the outfit she wore for the filming of the "Real Housewives of New York" reunion last week, and it was a showstopper. The Married to the Mob fashion designer wore an all-sheer dress that left little to the imagination. But she paired it with a matching sheer mask, which seemed to set some fans off for not actually being a protective face covering.

McSweeney took to her Instagram Story to address the people who were critical of the face mask.

“The fact that there are so many people commenting about my sheer mask not being COVID-safe makes me question everybody’s intelligence and common sense,” she said. “Like, no shit, obviously it’s not for protection. It’s part of my look.”

McSweeney went on to explain the great lengths Bravo went through in order to make sure the in-person reunion was safe from any potential COVID-19 dangers.

“You know what was for protection? Getting tested for COVID the day before [filming],” she said. “Getting tested for COVID two days before that. Staying six feet apart from everybody. The protocol that went into the reunion was insane, unlike anything I had ever seen. So anyone leaving a comment being like, ‘That sheer mask doesn’t help,’ fuck off.”

McSweeney was at the reunion along with Dorinda Medley, Sonja Morgan, Ramona Singer, Luann de Lesseps and Tinsley Mortimer, who flew in from Chicago and quarantined before attending the filming. And of course, "Watch What Happens" host and "Housewives" executive producer Andy Cohen was there.

McSweeney talked to E! News last week about the reunion and praised everyone involved.

“I’m just so grateful that Bravo and that Shed [Media], all the amazing crew and staff and Andy and everyone, every single person that was involved in getting it to be in person,” she said.

“When I tell you they were so careful and the amount of testing and protocols and masks and social distancing and this and that. It was a huge undertaking and they did it.”

She did admit that she was nervous for the filming and got very little sleep the night before.

“The wake-up call was very early. I’m not the best sleeper. I was nervous and I kept stressing out about not being able to sleep and of course I only slept from 10:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. So I did the reunion on three hours of sleep,” McSweeny revealed while talking to E! news.
