Draya Michele has suggested she ain’t all that rich. The 35-year-old reality star now best known for her 2011-founded Mint Swim brand has been both showing off the high life and – it would appear – admitting that some items just aren’t in her price range.
Draya, who recently fronted media outlets for joking about rapper Megan Thee Stallion’s shooting and appearing straight-up dropped by SavagexFenty as a result, is nonetheless doing well for herself. Her weekend bikini snaps came from upscale Descano Beach Club, CA. Check out what happened below.
Scroll for Draya’s Sunday stories. The “Basketball Wives LA” alum updated on Sunday with the above photo showing her at the beach club and rocking a two-toned bikini from Mint Swim. Draya founded the brand with the $12,000 she saved up in 2011. By 2017, Mint Swim was worth $1 million – likely more now after Kylie Jenner featured it during her 2019 travels.
Draya, who told Forbes that she “did incredibly” with her brand back in 2016 – “This big check to the IRS makes you feel kind of good,” she said, is now setting herself apart from rich people.
Draya’s stories today showed her both influencing for haircare products and hitting up a store where she was browsing rugs.
“Rug education,” Draya wrote as her smartphone filmed Pakistani and Persian rugs. The first rug came with a $17,809 price tag. Likewise pricey was the Persian rug retailing for an even more expensive $35,000. Draya then filmed herself exiting the store and speaking into the camera.
“Ok, so, what did we learn today, ladies and gentleman? Rugs….Are for rich people. I might just…have to stick with the floors that I got, cus, um, wooochao!”
If you missed the hoopla over Draya and “Savage” rapper Megan Thee Stallion, it was one ugly mess. The 25-year-old rapper made headlines in July for claiming she was shot in both feet. Rapper Tory Lanez is assumed by many to have been behind the shooting, but there’s no evidence.
Draya, meanwhile, got involved by speaking on the “Wine and Weed” podcast. She didn’t hold back, saying:
“I predict that they had some sort of Bobby & Whitney love that drove them down this type of road,” adding: “I’m here for it. I like that. I want you to like me so much you shoot me in the foot too.”
Following the scandal and despite a heartfelt apology from Draya – Megan had fired shots at her on Twitter – SavagexFenty unfollowed Draya on Instagram. The 2016-founded lingerie line also removed all promotional photos of Draya from its social media, leading to assumptions that Draya had been dropped.
Of course, Draya’s Sunday stories didn’t see her state she’s broke – far from it with the glitz and the glam. But if rugs are for “rich people,” the Oh Polly collaborator
wasn’t hiding from sending a message.
Alongside running Mint Swim and her newly-dropped Oh Polly collab, Draya is also a Fashion Nova partner with Revolve collabs under her belt. Scroll to see her listing her achievements.
