While many people are ready to cancel Ellen DeGeneres over serious allegations of an abusive and toxic work environment at her daytime talk show, former late night host Jay Leno is not. He joined a handful of other celebrities this week in defending DeGeneres, who he has had a close personal relationship with for decades. He took to Twitter to express his thoughts on the matter.

"I don’t discard a 40-year friendship on hearsay. The Ellen I know has raised over $125 million dollars for charity and has always been a kind and decent person. I fully support her," Leno wrote.

Leno took heat in the mentions of the tweet, as has Kevin Hart for his defense of DeGeneres.

"I have known Ellen for years and I can honestly say that she's one of the dopest people on the fucking planet. She has treated my family and team with love and respect from day 1...The internet has become a crazy world of negativity... we are falling in love with peoples down fall," Hart said.

Hart added, "It's honestly sad... When did we get here? I stand by the ones I know and that I love. Looking forward to future where we are back to loving one another... this hate shit has to stop. Hopefully it goes out of style soon...."

Katy Perry also has DeGeneres' back as she wrote on Twitter, "I know I can’t speak for anyone else’s experience besides my own but I want to acknowledge that I have only ever had positive takeaways from my time with Ellen. I think we all have witnessed the light & continual fight for equality that she has brought to the world through her platform for decades. Sending you love & a hug, friend."

DeGeneres' brother, Vance, also shared his support for her earlier this week, calling all of the allegations "bullshit."

NBC's parent company, WarnerMedia, announced last week its launching an investigation into the claims by former employees.

DeGeneres has admitted that there are problems behind the scenes and wrote a letter to her staff on July 30 in which she vowed to address and correct the problems.

"As we've grown exponentially, I've not been able to stay on top of everything and relied on others to do their jobs as they knew I'd want them done. Some didn't," she wrote. "That will now change, and I'm committed to ensuring this does not happen again."
