There’s no question that 2021 has been a bitter-sweet year for Microsoft founder Bill Gates. The computer giant went through a very public divorce from his wife of several decades Melinda French Gates. Throughout the year he’s had to deal with being questioned about his divorce, and also a potential connection between himself and deceased pedophile Jeffrey Epstein. The year wasn’t all bad though. His daughter Jennifer Gates got married. According to Bill that was a big highlight of his year. Also, he’s seen plenty of progress in the international effort to battle COVID. Something that he has been involved in from virtually the start of the pandemic. Prompting people to come up with all sorts of conspiracy theories on why he got involved! Gates seems hopeful though that there’s a light at the end of the tunnel in the fight against COVID.
Bill Gates Admits That Adapting To His New Life Hasn’t Been Easy
Although it doesn’t sound like Bill Gates was overjoyed to talk about his divorce at the end of the year blog post he posted, the former Microsoft CEO didn’t sidestep the issue. Saying that he understood people were curious about that part of his life. He went on to say that it was a period of great sadness for him. Admitting also that adjusting to his new life as a single man hasn’t been easy. Maybe if Jeffrey Epstein was still around the process would’ve been a bit more bearable for Bill. Let’s not kick a man too hard when he’s down though. Bill mentioned on his divorce,
“I know a lot of people are curious about a subject closer to home: my divorce.” he would go on to say, “I can’t deny that it’s been a year of great personal sadness for me. Adapting to change is never easy, no matter what it is. I’ve been impressed by how resilient my loved ones—especially my kids—have been in this challenging time.”
Hopeful For The End of COVID
2021 may be remembered as the year when we lost track of all of the different variants that COVID seemed to keep coming up with to make people sick. Even though it’s still been a tough year especially for folks who have lost loved ones to the disease Gates is hopeful. Saying that he believes that he can see the light at the end of the tunnel in this whole COVID ordeal. Specifically, Gates says;
“I am hopeful, though, that the end is finally in sight. It might be foolish to make another prediction, but I think the acute phase of the pandemic will come to a close some time in 2022”
Bill Gates’ Challenges Moving Forward
According to Gates one of the biggest challenges that the US, in particular, is facing is the lack of trust in institutions that has dramatically increased in the last few years. He’s essentially talking about all of those people who spread conspiracy theories about him and the vaccines. On how he would tackle the decline in trust problem, he’s not exactly sure. It certainly seems like he’s right in thinking this is going to be a huge challenge moving forward!
