As the current scandal involving claims of overt toxicity on the set of 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show' continues to unfold, it appears that pop star Katy Perry is throwing herself into the mix, speaking out publicly to defend DeGeneres, her longtime friend, as countless instances of misconduct have been levied against her and showrunners throughout the hit daytime program's existence.

Aside from DeGeneres' wife, Portia de Rossi, virtually no other celebrities have spoken out in support of DeGeneres, but Perry decided to interject with her viewpoints on the social media platform.

"I know I can’t speak for anyone else’s experience besides my own but I want to acknowledge that I have only ever had positive takeaways from my time with Ellen & on the @theellenshow," the pop star began her candid admission on Twitter about the accusations raised against her friend.

"I think we all have witnessed the light & continual fight for equality that she has brought to the world through her platform for decades. Sending you love & a hug, friend @TheEllenShow," the 'Firework' singer concluded her message to DeGeneres amidst the general clap-back she has received from most others.

Following Perry's statement, many fans took to responding to her post, reminding the star that her experiences are unique only to her and that many others have come forward with stories of wrongdoings on DeGeneneres and other show executive's parts.

As mentioned, the only other person to respond publicly to the situation is DeGeneres' wife, who took to Instagram to share a photo of herself accompanied by the caption, "To all our fans….we see you. Thank you for your support. #stopbotattacks #IStandWithEllenDeGeneres #IStandByEllen ‪#IstandByEllenDeGeneres ‬#ellendegeneres #ellen #theellenshow #ellenshow #bekindtooneanother"

Her insinuation that the majority of flack against DeGeneres has come from "bot" accounts on social media has caused even more of a harsh response from those that feel as though de Rossi is diminshing the power that actual former worker's stories have.

When DeGeneres initially began catching a significant amount of hate online for the stories that were coming forward, she issued a statement where she claimed some responsibility, saying she has "not been able to stay on top of everything," over the years, as well as how she "relied on others to do their jobs as they knew [she’d] want them done."

"Clearly some didn’t… That will now change and I’m committed to ensuring this does not happen again," the television personality said in her statement at the time.
