Thanks to Taylor Swift turning the world upside down, we’re looking to Karlie Kloss for answers. These two have had an interesting relationship for 7-8 years now, with Swift’s July 24th “folklore” taking it up another few notches.
To make the latest updates “make sense” (if that’s even possible with these two) – we’re trailing through their entire timeline…where we left off last: they’d just gotten caught kissing at a concert in New York.
The Taylor/Karlie Kissgate scandal happened in early December – right after they’d filmed the (affectionate) 2014 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, and days before it’d air to the world.
Despite the media firestorm: Kaylor got cozy at the VS Fashion Show’s viewing party on December 9th, Karlie came and went from Taylor’s throughout the week, and was seen supporting her at iHeartRadio’s Z100 Jingle Ball on December 12th.
Later that night (and on the eve of her 25h birthday), the “Shake It Off” songstress filled her Tribeca penthouse with all sorts of A-Listers – like Beyoncé, Jay-Z, and Justin Timberlake – all while keeping Kloss close by her side.

We can’t really round the corner of 2014 without mentioning Swiftmas, a sometimes annual event where Taylor tracks her fans on Tumblr all year and sends them enormous boxes of personalized presents. And guess who helped her out this year? (hint: Karlie Kloss)
Included in Swift’s gifts were Karlie’s Kookies, a health snack from the model herself (which recently retailed at $25/tin).
They slipped a polaroid of themselves into one of the 33-pound boxes, Taylor writing that Karlie assisted with wrapping.

Many think Taylor’s Swiftmas vlog was filmed by Kloss, at least in-part, especially since someone’s heard laughing when they’re running low on bubblewrap…that, and the fact that they were never not together that entire year.
A key for Kaylor shippers was Taylor’s song selection for the vlog – her very own “You Are In Love,” a bonus track from the same-year album “1989.”
In their February 2015 featurette with Vogue, Taylor low-key said she’d played the entire “1989” album for Karlie “before anyone else heard it” – and that she’d done so during their defining road trip to Big Sur in March 2014.
LISTEN (again): “You Are In Love” by Taylor Swift:
So, essentially: Karlie heard “1989”/”You Are In Love” before anyone else, when Taylor played it for her in March 2014. The album/song came out in October 2014, and the song/vlog in December 2014.
Hindsight also showed that Swift had captioned one of her road trip pics with the song’s lyrics. And although “on the way home” is a common phrase – when coupled with the Swiftmas vlog and the Vogue video that followed, Taylor’s timely caption is theorized as being intentional.

The February 2015 Vogue video acted as ancillary content to their same-month cover story: “On the Road with Best Friends Taylor Swift and Karlie Kloss.”
Swift, who hadn’t ever shared a cover before this, held the interview at “her sprawling two-story penthouse in New York’s Tribeca” – the same one she told Rolling Stone that Karlie had kinda moved into the year prior.
As if the Vogue story wasn’t already a pillar of the Kaylor chronicle, Swift’s latest “folkore” might be making some direct references to the whole entire experience.
More on this in part 5.
