Cody Simpson, 23, and Miley Cyrus, 27, shocked the internet when they confirmed their relationship in October 2019. And the two have only gone from strength to strength in recent months.
On Saturday afternoon, Simpson posted an adorable photo of the two to his Instagram story. He captioned the snap: “In love with my best friend.”
In the photo, Cyrus wore an orange bucket hat and a simple white tee-shirt with red lipstick. The Australian-singer looked casual in a black tee and sunglasses.
The two musicians were rumored to be in a relationship in early October, shortly after Cyrus ended her fling with Kaitlynn Carter (who she dated after she separated from ex-husband, Liam Hemsworth).
“I know the public feels invested in my past relationship because they felt like they saw it thru from the beginning,” Cyrus tweeted at the time, after receiving backlash for moving on so quickly.
“But I am grown now and make choices as an adult knowing the truth/details/reality,” she added.
That same month, Simpson spoke about his “happy” relationship with Cyrus.
“I’m very happy. We are very, very happy,” he said. “She’s creative. She’s very passionate about what she does, and I’m very similar in that sense. That’s why we get along so well.”
In December 2019, there were rumors Simpson cheated on Cyrus after he was spotted with Playmate, Jordy Murray.
However, he denied the allegations and he and Cyrus continued to show off their love on social media.
In March 2020, the duo got matching tattoos of a trident symbol in honor of Simpson’s book, “Prince Neptune.”
A month later, they celebrated their six-month anniversary.
The couple has been spending their quarantine together, where they’ve both been living a sober lifestyle.
The 22-year-old recently opened up on her decision to live cleaner during an interview on the Variety’s “The Big Ticket” podcast.
“I’ve been sober for the past six months. At the beginning, it was just about this vocal surgery…But I had been thinking a lot about my mother,” Cyrus explained.
“My mom was adopted, and I inherited some of the feelings she had, the abandonment feelings and wanting to prove that you’re wanted and valuable.”
“It’s really hard because especially being young, there’s that stigma of ‘you’re no fun.’ It’s like, ‘honey, you can call me a lot of things, but I know that I’m fun.’ The thing that I love about it is waking up 100%, 100% of the time. I don’t want to wake up feeling groggy. I want to wake up feeling ready,” she revealed.
