As the last few weeks have transpired, one of the most prevalent topics in entertainment news has been the ongoing legal battle in California between Britney Spears and her father, who has held a legal conservatorship over her for the last twelve years since her very public and famous meltdown.

Now, Jamie Spears, 68, is speaking out against those propagating "conspiracies" about his relationship with his daughter, saying that he is not acting cruelly or opportunistic by maintaining the legal statute, but only looking to protect Spears' best interests.

"All these conspiracy theorists don’t know anything. The world don’t have a clue," the pop star's father told the publication about the harrowing claims raised against him and his business dealings. "It’s up to the court of California to decide what’s best for my daughter. It’s no one else’s business," he went on to mention, also angrily denying the other rumors that himself or anyone he knows has been taking money from Spears' estate without reporting it to the courts or banks.

"I have to report every nickel and dime spent to the court every year,” he said. “How the hell would I steal something?" He said to the publication about the claims.

Beyond the face-value legal case, the conservator says that due to the increased attention the issue has received recently, as well as the #FreeBritney trending across social media, fans have started to become more aggressive towards other parties involved in the situation, making death threats towards him and those around him.

"People are being stalked and targeted with death threats," Spears said of the threats, "It’s horrible. We don’t want those kinds of fans."

He then went on to get emotional, saying, "I love my daughter. I love all my kids. But this is our business. It’s private."

Although Spears maintains that he wants the issue to play out in private, the opposite seems to be transpiring as it has in many instances throughout the pop star's career, when many of her most vulnerable moments played out in the public spotlight.

A petition with more than 100,000 signatures already has gained massive online attention regarding Spears' case, claiming that, "Her father doesn’t allow her to drive, all of her calls & messages are monitored, she’s not allowed to vote, hang with anyone or spend her money without permission. And if she breaks a 'rule' he threatens to have her kids taken away."

Celebrities such as Ruby Rose, Miley Cyrus, Paris Hilton, Ariel Winter and Rose McGowan have all spoken out in support of Spears since the situation gained more attention.
